One year later is Alabama football any better off? The 07 team looked a lot like the 06 team except for the beating that Alabama gave the Vols. Losing to ULM was totally unacceptable. I still think that Saban is the man for the job, but is he really worth 4 million a year? No doubt he has turned around Alabama's recruiting, but can he change the losing attitude that has gripped the program? These questions, and more will be answered in 08. Stay tuned.

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
Saban already at work for 08:
Tide's season a missed chance:
There is no clear way to reconcile the 2007 season for Alabama, what with its early highs, late lows and now positive conclusion. Despite strides made in Saban's initial season, the overwhelming attitude among the Crimson Tide is that a seven-win record ultimately goes down as a missed opportunity.
Sunday's win over Colorado, if nothing else, helps mask a four-game losing streak that rapidly turned an SEC title contender into a return visitor to the Independence Bowl.
More than anything, the victory spawns momentum and good vibes for a program that has recently experienced a shortage of both.
"I believe it gives the guys who were kind of doubting the system a lot of confidence to want to do the right things now," junior safety Rashad Johnson said.
But beating Colorado doesn't cure what dropped Alabama to such a low point in November. Mishaps like four-game textbook suspensions for five players, including three offensive starters, proved costly.

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
Another asinine comment from Tommy Tuberville. Tommy, being out recruited by your two main rivals in not a good thing. Case in point: Georgia has took Auburn to the woodshed the past two seasons. Does he really think that we're so stupid to believe that he doesn't know who Alabama, and Georgia has committed? LMAO! Auburn should fire Tuberville for being a ******* if he isn't more involved in the recruiting process than that. Things are about to get interesting!"I don't worry about what Alabama does or Georgia or anybody else," Tuberville said. "I have no clue who they have committed. I can't control what they're doing. We work hard at recruiting. We've got good recruiters. We know who we want to recruit. Some we're going to get and some we're not going to get, but we're going to do it the right way and not end up on probation in a few years.
"We don't recruit at all costs. We recruit players that want to come to our place and get an education. I think it's worked for us so far. We've got one of the best records in college football the last five, six years."Last edited by Coach Bryant; 01-02-2008, 11:16 AM."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
By no trolling, he means he wants to be able to say whatever he wants to about Auburn, and not allowing Auburn fans to respond to those comments.Comment

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
Exactly...because you guys can bash Alabama in the Auburn football thread without Alabama fans responding. These rules apply for both threads, and keep both threads open. You know how these threads work Bates.
BTW I'm not fishing. I made a honest observation. Tuberville made another stupid comment."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
You have the power to prevent that from happening.
This is the Alabama football thread, and I think we should be able to discuss our rivals along with our favorite team. The Auburn fans have their thread to bash their rivals.

Last six seasons (counting 2008 class so far)
Avg Team Rank:
UGA: 6.3
Auburn: 12
Alabama: 13.3
Wins:
UGA: 51
AU: 50
AL: 34
Bama and UGA both have some good looking classes. Certainly more 'star' power than Auburn's. But its not like Auburn is signing some scrubs. We have some good players in this class, with a lot of good guys still on the fence. Auburn will most likely have another top 10 class, and be on our way to more victories. I see no reason why Tuberville should be fired.
And he is right. He probably cant list off the guys Alabama has committed. I follow recruiting way to much, and I can only list a few names off that commitment list off the top of my head.Comment

Tuberville made a stupid comment. He is paid to keep up with recruiting, and should be fired for not doing his job."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
Serious question:
Why would he keep up with players that told him a long time ago they wont be going to Auburn? I'm sure he is so focused on the players left on the board, I wouldnt give those guys much thought either.
Oh wait... i think I am missing your sarcasm him about being fired. Sorry for taking your post seriously. Carry on.Comment

Re: 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide
Scarbinsky: Don't buy talk of Saban to West Viriginia.
Home is home, but business is business, and most of Saban's business in Tuscaloosa is unfinished. He's a month away from putting to bed one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.
So all this West Virginia talk? Give it a rest."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment
