well, like most of you guys i came away emptyhanded but for a different reason. i went there to get cold medicine and apple juice and also to pick up both the show and 2K8. as i walked into the electronics dept at WM i noticed a pallet full of boxes. on about 4 of the boxes were stickers that said do not sell before march 4 and something written about if sold there would be store fines and other penalties. i knew it was either boxes of the show/2k8 or both. as i looked closer i could see inventory /pkg. sheets and there were two different games: the show and 2K8. so i wait until the 40's something red head guy who was stocking the dvd's on the shelves got finished with a box and asked him about both games. he said they were both in and going to be available after 9 am. i asked if he would get me a copy of each since i was sure that they were in the boxes on the pallet. he said that he was the only one there stocking that dept (and he was) and that he had to finish the dvds and help another customer purchasing an lcd. (btw, who purchases an lcd at 12:45 a.m.?) so i ask aren't they supposed to help customers find what they want, and he responds that he was a night stocker and he wasn't really required to do so. i just left because at that point, if i had stayed any longer, i would have lost it; not because i didn't get the game, (i'm off tomorrow, so i'll go and get it about 8 AM) but i can't believe how lazy this guy was. i know that most of the good folks that work at WM don't deserve the treatment and poor pay they receive, but this guy is an exception to the rule.

Well it seems obvious by now that the UPS drop ship on this is going to be today. I'm guessing they'll start popping up in stores between 10AM-1PM EST. At this point it will probably be easier to get at dedicated gaming stores as Walmart and the big chains have a lot more boxes to go through before they finally unpack them. I almost stayed up to try to get it at Walmart last night too. Now I'm glad I got the extra sleep instead.Comment

Circuit City is supposed to e-mail me when the game becomes available. Don't know whether that will occur instantaneously (more likely tonight). I'll stop there on my way home from work. It should be in by then (4:30).Comment

I wouldn't trust circuit city e-mailing you. Don't get me wrong, I really like circuit city, but the last time I had them e-mail me when NBA 2K8 was in stock and that didn't happen until like a week after I already picked up the game from circuit city. However, I did get the game on release day.Comment

just uh... waitin' for lunch to roll around and I'll go scoop it up. Not that I'll actually be able to play the thing until at LEAST 7 pm, but hey at least I'll have it in my hot little hands...--

The towel trick is temporary, yes. But what I was talking about is the X-clamp replacement fix. What I was saying about the towel trick is that, if the 360 works after doing the towel trick, that indicates that it can be fixed by the X-clamp replacement fix. The x-clamp replacement fix replaces the flimsy x-clamps which hold the heatsink of the GPU and CPU by pressure by actual machine screws which prevents the flexing of the motherboard when the 360 gets warm. It is the flexing of the board that causes the solder on the GPU to slighty come undone causing GPU error.
I've had great success with fixing my 360 and a friend's.
See here for details on the fix : [HTML]http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htmLast edited by BigH2k6; 03-04-2008, 09:35 AM.Comment

I got my automated call from GS unusually late last night but my cell was roam-only so who knows what time it actually came in.
They said I should be able to pick it up after 2pm EST. I coulda sworn up until the last few years every store would have a game on the release date as soon as their store opened. The last several sports games I've gotten haven't been available until late afternoon."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

When I was younger I worked at a Sam Goody (haha remember those?) Any way, on Monday nights when the store was closed we would put all the new music and games up on the new release racks, so they were already up for sale as soon as the gates opened in the morning. It amazes me that it's not done this way anymore.I got my automated call from GS unusually late last night but my cell was roam-only so who knows what time it actually came in.

Just checked my local Wal-mart. No dice. They didn't have it in the back either. The stock guy had The Show for PS3, PS2, and PSP on his cart by the display but no 2k8 yet.Comment
