This is great. The radio announcer is the worst part of Madden Next Gen. With an entirely new commentating team, there's indication that EA worked on presentation. This, not gameplay, was the biggest flaw of Madden last year.

I agree that it's unlikely they would go out of their owned licenses but I'm pretty sure they'll have to pay whoever they decide to use. Just because you have an ESPN license doesn't mean ESPN guys will work for you at no extra cost.Comment

yes, but they already have a working relationship with the ESPN or NFL Network guys because of their exclusive license. It makes no sense to go outside of those if they choose to use personalities.Comment

Honestly, I wouldn't even trip if it was as deep as the NCAA game (even though that game has used the same lines for some time now but it's still not that repetitive)
Just hope they are still down with the cause of saying current college players' names (i.e. Tebow)............ Al Michaels in his 1st year said college players names, I don't know why, I just think it's really cool for some reason.Favorite Teams:
NBA: Houston Rockets
NFL: Tennessee Titans
MLB: Chicago White Sox
NCAA: Florida State Seminoles

Re: No John Madden in Madden 09? EA Promises New Game Announcers
the announcing/PBP has been horrible for years in this game. Madden and Michaels were repetitive and boring.
Find two no names that have all the time in the world to record 1000s of line of commentary like Dan and Peter and the problem will be solved.Comment

They should use Joe Theisman and Jimmy Kimmel.

Just got word Big Tigga from Fight Night 04 fame will be the new radio announcer, LOL; as quoted by Big Tigga himself "If he gets ups he's a champ, if he doesn't he's a chump".
For real I hope whomever they get records more than there catch phrase. Peace.Comment

I call Gumble and Collinsworth since there is the connection to the NFL Network.
Second prediction is people actually want the radio guy back instead of Gumble.Comment

Everybody knows that John Madden is just a figurehead at this point. Just keep his likeness in the game to some extent and everything will be fine, and then you can go find some new commentators.
I agree with whomever said they should get no-name individuals with a lot of time. I have a putrid voice, but I would record commentary for that game if it meant having deeper commentary. Like NBA 2K8, I believe that they only had a couple of recording sessions, and the guys had other commitments as well. MLB 08 The Show, however, had their three-man announce team on-call, as well as a continuously working script writer. They went the extra mile to give the game some variety (and yet you still hear the same phrases after a while).
Presentation-wise, they'd be wise to get the FOX announcers, but as mentioned, that's unlikely. I sure hope it's not the Monday Night Football guys, because in real life, that is the most mismanaged slew of broadcasting components I have ever seen. Nobody needs five studio hosts and two sideline reporters when not one person in your three-man team is even remotely tolerable or knowledgable.
If they go with NFL Network, they can get Bryant Gumbel and include a module that randomly says the wrong team's name 7 out of every 12 times.Comment

My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment
