Re: NCAA Football 09 Official First Look: NCAA Strategies
I am less enthusiatic after reading that write-up. 1-2 INTs returned for TDs per game? No thanks. I honestly may not get this game on Day One this year. I don't think I've ever said that about this game, but the INT issue is just inexcusable. And so is only having one camera angle. Really EA. One freaking camera angle? We have how many camera angles in FIFA, NBA Live, UEFA, etc.?
It sounds like there have been some improvements in other areas, but if the game is going to be an interception festival like '08 than this game will be just as frustrating. I can only hope that the INT slider and Knockdown slider actually work this year.Last edited by Moshood; 04-24-2008, 11:06 PM.Comment

Really the way i think about, if hes playing default sliders and they get 1-2 per game that can prolly be toned down with sliders since last year on default i could get 3-6 pick sixes a game."You come at the King, you best not miss..."Comment

I completely agree about wishing Tiburon would just take risks and go all out with authenticity. I think that it is a proven effective formula in game design, look how attention to detail has been received by gamers playing The Show and how that has translated into the rise of that title. And although it's not nearly the same type of game, the emphasis in GTA IV's production was all about the small details and adding as many of them as possible, and look how well that seems to already have been received by the public and the media. This adds a wow factor for casual and hardcore gamers.

There is still some time left to fine tune the passing game (hopefully), so who knows.
Good write up by NCAA Strategies though. Thanks for keeping us informed coogrfan.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Yeah, hopefully the INT Slider works this year though since last year I could nab 4+ INT's with the INT Slider set at zero.Last edited by Moshood; 04-24-2008, 10:53 PM.Comment

That's true, compared to default last year that is an improvement, but the ratio still needs to be improved. I don't know what the average TD/INT ratio was in college football last year but I'm certain it was above 1:1 or 1:2.Comment

I've tried looking for the ratio but can't find it anywhere...PSN-Shugarooo

Wow! This sounds just like last year. Better than the prior year... still needs work... we'll talk to them about these issues...
They didn't address a single aspect of the game I was hoping for. Yall are asking for little things and I'm still asking for basic football essentials: QB pocket, blocking, tackling, rushing the QB... nevermind. I'm tired of writing that list.
It sounds like the player models look like football players.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

So INT's could still be an issue, and their idea of presentation is showing too many cut scenes of cheerleaders?
While I hope I am very wrong, it seems that all they did was bring old features back. While that is good, I expect much, much more. I highly doubt they can tweak the game for the better at this point. Maybe the sliders will actually work this year to help out the tweaking.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Official First Look: NCAA Strategies
Doesn't seem very encouraging to me. Why do they spend all their time on things like QB and Kicker minigames that no one wanted or asked for when the basic fundamentals of the sport are still broken? And they still only have one friggin camera? That's nothing but pure laziness. Moving the camera is one of the most basic things you can do in programming a game.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Official First Look: NCAA Strategies
Wow, I'm not surprisingly underwhelmed. Its an early build but seriously we all know practically none of this will get fixed by the final build. The fact that they didn't address the INT TD issue is mind-blowing. One of the HUGE problems that killed the game last year and its still an issue. So far it just sounds like the same old EA crap, however I don't think anyone should be surprised by that. I will hold my absolute final judgement until the game releases, but it doesn't look good so far.Comment

I am also a bit concerned that combined scores over 100 were common. While I didn't like all the INTs last year, I did like the defensive focus. Historically, EA football games have been too offensive, especially in the 4th quarter when man, beast & cpu could throw deep into triple coverage with confidence.....I hope we don't head back in that direction.Comment
