    I don't know...

I saw the 10 minute video from the Community Day event. (I'm not sure where it was from.) And the game looked exactly the same.

I understand he was playing it on Freshman but this game hasn't made any major improvements since the switch to next gen. This is what a lack of competition does, it let's EA go at it's own pace, instead of the pace of your rivals.

Anyway, I don't think we are too jaded or negative. I think what we have here, is EA doesn't know what it's customers want. It's funny that are the most sim-like are the most successful. Winning Eleven, MLB The Show, MVP and NFL 2k were all at the top and more more sim than arcade.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Official First Look: NCAA Strategies

I think every fan wants the game to be as realistic as possible. I don't think its right for companies to assume the casual fan wants a very arcade like experience. Those are for the people that rent. The people that buy games love football and if you make your game as realistic as possible, people will be happy.

Casual fans may not be as good and/or may want to win more than the hardcore fan. But I don't think they want a truly cheezy experience. A co-worker of mine got NCAA '08 for the PS2 and he loved it. He didn't like some of the unrealistic gameplay elements but yet he would play on JV because he's so hot headed he hates to lose lol.

As for that gameplay video, I will disagree and say I saw some improved things. Personally, I think all videos are overrated in terms of how much info you can get from them. Pastapadre wrote that the weight of the players is much heavier which is a good thing since it was too light in '08. The juke move was almost useless in '08 on the PS3 due to the lack of momentum but it certainly looked good in the video which I consider an improvement. The PS3 version will be 60 fps this year and it looked faster as well. I just remember counting how long it would take a guy to run 10 yards in last year's game and I think guys cover ground more quickly. Hard to say but it did look faster to me. I don't know if you can get any real AI judgments (good or bad) out of a video on freaking freshman. I'll trust the write-ups much more.

The same people that may hate EA use to love NCAA series. The NCAA series was a special game since NCAA 99 and peaked at NCAA 2004. NCAA to me was the hardcore/indie football game. What we are hearing/posting now is pure frustration with the inability to fix the flaws in the game.

I never thought I would see a day where Odogg would be so negative about NCAA. I used to be a hardcore NCAA fan that would play both off line and online but most of us know that the game they are playing now is the game we will get in July.

        Peace

Please don't take these impressions as being the final gospel on the game. It will be the thoughts of the game at Community Day that you should put more stock into. If they make some of the tweaks we suggested, this game will be pretty good.

I'll add that Online Dynasties are going to be amazing. I'll have an audio interview up by this weekend (hopefully).
Which means absolutely zilch coming from EA.

I can't say I "hate" EA but it's getting close. They are single handely destroying console football, period. I honestly feel they have virtually no talent left there that can do the job. Why else would they work on freaking chearleaders and stadium pics instead of programming some serious flaws out of the game.
So yeah, basically I probably do hate EA at this point. It's been a few years and they have shown little to no improvements. And why did they get the ESPN exclusives again. I'd like to know since I've yet to see it implemented in any shape or form that isn't embarrasing.
              Enoughs enough.
              Ok that's my rant.

I really don't hate EA. I just want a game that 1: Plays as realistic as it can 2: Doesn't require house rules and 3: Doesn't get boring (Presentation EA?) after 5 games.

That's all. Here's hoping you can pull it off.

considering that there were people dissappointed in the game last year becasue there were no clear visors and jerseys weren't accurate, I think its hard to knock EA for putting these items in.

We also knocked them for too many turnovers, but they haven't fixed that yet

Thats too early to tell and from my experience playing the game post patch, the turnover issue seemed to have been fixed.

Man do I agree with this. To me, EA Sports has lost focus with their football titles best they have been allowed to move at their own pace due to no competition.

I think Madden has grown too big for it's own good. It can't innovate because the 1 year cycle doesn't offer enough time and EA Sports fears that will alienate fans. It can't offer a sim experience because that would go against the new ethos of the company. And it doesn't have any competition that would force EA to innovate over fear of losing sales.

If you think about it, the Madden engine is virtually the same game we played on the PS1. Graphics have improved but the core EA gameplay is the same.

Considering that dark visors are illegal, they shouldn't have even been in the game in the first place. So it's kind of hard to give EA credit for actually getting it right. Especially 3 years later.
