I actually liked Madden 08...

I really liked Madden NFL 08 too.. just hated the stupid radio announcer and the presentation should be better....also when I say really liked it that is in comparison to the previous next-gen Maddens. I agree with everyone else that the series is nowhere near where it should be and is not progressing nearly quick enough for my tastes.

how is it a make or break year when your the only company with an "exclusive license" and you can afford to sit back with the same game every year.

I think the sagging sales numbers show that it is a make or break season in a couple of respects. If EA doesn't bounce the quality back up after such a big decline in sales, they won't be doing it anytime soon. I'm also sure there is a ton of internal pressure to regain the lost sales of previous years, so no matter how you slice it, I really feel that this is the big year for Madden. Either we are going to see the ship sailing in the right direction again or it's gonna fall off the edge of the earth.

Even with no competition, the sales could still go low enough that the exclusive license is no longer profitable. You got to think that if the sales slip another million or two, EA will be close to not turning a profit on the game. So again, I really feel this is a big year for the Madden series.

Madden was #5 for top selling games (all types) last year. Slipping a little? Maybe, but I don't think this is make or break.

This has to be the year for Madden. I'm waiting to see what all the guys on this site thinks about the game before buying. They helped me out last year and look for the same this year. EA will fix the problems and the game should be good, I hope.

Madden 09 will be the same arcade trash like its allways been but without a choice in NFL gaming it will sell to the commercially induced masses who care not about quality of gameplay but only to "control" their favorite team in a video game. Pathetic.
