    Tips on running a franchise?

I tried to search but couldn't come up with anything.

What's the most effective way of running things such as advertising, ticket/parking prices, vendors, TV contracts, etc.

Not sure if some of this is self explanatory but say I sign a TV contract that runs for 4 years, it seems as if some of the better options are not available at first. When they become unlocked can I switch to them midway through the contract?

What are the best promotions to run, I've done a bobblehead night a couple of games now but I only ordered enough for $1,000 which is likely not that big of a deal.

I play as the Mets for what it's worth, they have around $18,000 with pretty good facilities.

I also found on this forum that it's not worth upgrading from the standard bus as transportation gets reset after one season. Any other words of advice?

the way that i do it is to just raise the prices until it reachs the high before going overpriced. as for the ads, just pick the one where you make the most money and in the shortest amount of time. for the promotions i just use about 300-400 for each and pick a random date.

The trick is to minimize empty seats. I.e. low ticket prices and then medium-high vendor prices. You never want to go above the league average for ticket prices unless your team is doing extremely well standings-wise.

No. You must abide by the set length of your contract. Like someone else said, it's better to keep your TV contracts short until something better opens up (though that could be awhile).

Do you mean $1000 or 1000 people? Not enough either way. You'll want to have atleast 7000-10000 of whatever youre promoting to ensure a full ball park that night. And although I havnt really tested this theory out, it makes much more sense to have promotions between Monday-Thursday and/or when crappy teams are in town. And dont forget to jack vendor prices up a bit before promotion nights. It doesnt hurt to throw some money into advertising the promotion youre running (I usually start them about a week or two before the actual game). Finally, make sure to mix up youre promotions i.e. dont do a bobblehead night everytime.

The only difference transportation makes is keeping your players fresh. Its only worth it if youre team is constantly fatigued.

        Some other tips:

-Max your ADS in every facet and use TV ads for your star players

-The profit gained from 100 jerseys @ $100 is more than the profit gained from 25 jerseys @ $200. (this applies to all vendors)

-Keep a good stock of every vendor item; variety helps as well. You should have atleast one of every food item available. I also recommend buying every bell and whistle offered. i.e. hot tub seats, guess pitch speed, playground etc.

-Dont be afraid to take out a loan and be in debt for the first little while. With a winning record and a full stadium every night, it wont be long before you're pulling in $4M every home game.

If I think of more I'll let you know. Good luck.

Re: Tips on running a franchise?

The best info I have found so far is from this FAQ written for MLB 07. I think most of the info is pretty much current even for this years version. He emphasizes the use of the Save-Test-Load method to raise ticket and vendor prices, and covers virtually every facet of running a franchise.

It's in depth though, so get some coffee before you start, lol.

if u're going to run mutiple seasons franchise, i'd recomend not doing a TV contract you're first year, especially if it's not a good team.
much better contracts will come up ur 2nd year and after.
and of course, go for short term ones.

also shortest term bill boards are a must.
