No Console For Hawk This Year?

According to VideoGamer, it looks like the Tony Hawk crew is taking a year off and only making a DS title this year. Are you disappointed or happy with this decision?

"Activision has confirmed that it is taking a break from is annual Tony Hawk release schedule, with the next home console game featuring the skate boarding icon to hit stores in the publisher's fiscal 2010 - the year ending March 31, 2010. Given that Activision has traditionally released new titles in the series in the holiday season, expect the next Tony Hawk game to release late in 2009."

not a bad thing if they take a fresh look and revamp the franchise. It was obviously shocking to them how quickly EA was able to beat them down with Skate after the Tony Hawk franchise has been out forever.

without competition the hawk series would have lasted another 5-6 years before any retooling, ala madden.

Looks like Skate may have given them a reason to rework their game.

On a side note, does anybody know if a sequel to Skate is coming out this year?
