lets just face it guys, there are always going to be those that say a game is crap even when it gets a ten. This years version of ncaa could get a 9.5 and people will still say the old games on the xbox and ps2 are better. There are some people that just do not want to accept the fact that this is a video game, and no matter how long EA would work on it, it is NEVER going to be PERFECT! there are too many critics out there to allow the game to be perfect. I personally love the 09 and the demo is a nice sample of the greatness that is waiting for us all on july 15th. If you dont like it then fine, go back into your hole and wait for 2010, but while your playing your outdated game, ill be playing a great game of NCAA Football with updated, real-life rosters and and great gameplay!

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
They have to put together the demo, test it, then have it go through approval at MS/Sony. It looks like they submitted it earlier this year so that they could have it out earlier and for a specific date that could match both consoles. That is a relatively lengthy process in total.
And again I'm going to counter the thoughts that I've seen coming from others who attended the most recent community event. Outside of specific fixes and difficulty level consideration, the general feel of the game is very similar to what you're going to get in the release version. If you expect to be blown away in comparison I think its going to lead to a letdown, unless those specific fixes or upping the difficulty is what makes the difference for you.Comment

You guys don't get it. They have to submit a demo to Sony and Microsoft for approval. This process can take months. I can't remember which game it was, but I remember reading another developer talking about his frustration with the process. This has to be an earlier build because otherwise you wouldn't get the demo until September. It isn't that hard to understand.
On a different note: to the people who have played the full version of this game--- do you think pass rushing works better in this demo and that some how that was compromised by some of the stuff they changed in the more recent build? Can you see a difference in pass rushing on the demo? Is it better or worse?Follow me on Twitter @cavemangamer

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
I don't think this something that is as easy as many assume it is.
The first hurdle is that the console makers require ALL demos and downloadable content to be certified before it can be released onto PSN or XBL for downloads. THAT process can take up to a month or even 2 months depending on the backlog at MS and Sony (these are NOT well staffed departments at EITHER company).
What that means is that in order to have the demos come out this much in advance of the game's release, they would need to submit a separate code to MS and Sony for certification, one that would have to be locked down and written before the retail game was finished or gone "gold". As a result, they would pick a build that was stable and functional but not necessarily as close to the finished product as possible.
This is a very typical damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. If you have a newer build coming out in a few days - maybe one that is much closer to the final product than what we got - do you hold off submitting for certification and risk not having the demo available until July? Or do you push ahead with the demo submission anyway and just go with a slightly less finished game but one that still gets across many of the improvements (like lighting effects, even though they don't appear dynamic - or the player control and pre-play options and the improved though not perfect physics)?
I believe that EA feels strongly this year that THOSE improvements were something that they wanted to get out into the wild to let the community and the fans experience for themselves. Because of THIS they released the demo version...of course, who knows for sure...I might be totally wrong here...I would let the EA guys give the OFFICIAL reasons and comfirmations...Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
to me this seems to be a leap in game play from last year, a reasonable boost in the graphics and a hefty boost in animations and interaction.
I am very impressed withy this demo so far (all with the reasonable undertsanding that it IS an old build on Varsity)
looking very goodComment

I noticed the drive summary stats are wrong...I just scored a TD on offense in OT and it said I went 7 plays, 75 yards lol...PSN-Shugarooo

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
I believe that Pasta is making an important but subtle distinction here...I understand what he is saying, the game in the demo is about right in "feel" - the player movement and the momentum and the physics of this demo are not going to be wildly different, but I think the AI and the way the CPU defends things and the ability to pull off certain things like late pitches on the option or maybe some of the more extreme cases of being able to throw on the run WILL be different in the retail version. They have to put together the demo, test it, then have it go through approval at MS/Sony. It looks like they submitted it earlier this year so that they could have it out earlier and for a specific date that could match both consoles. That is a relatively lengthy process in total.

Depending on you personal frame of reference, those differences just may actually change your personal feel for the gameplay as well. I know for me personally, I think tthat playing on Varsity difficulty is a big contributor to the problems I experience witht he demo relative to my experiences at teh Community Day. At the CD, I never played the game on anything less than Heisman difficulty for any length of time - head-to-head, practice mode, drills, you name it, I played it on Heisman almost by default.
Pasta - if I have that wrong, please feel free to correct me...Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
Varsity will always play different than AA or Heisman. The defensive awareness is really different. That's why its disappointing to be able to play with the difficulty levels AND sliders for the Show demo and not be able to touch anything here. I'm sure the size of the demo had something to do with it.
I will say that when running the ball, get off the sprint button! The r-stick is the way to go. I'm also hopeful that EA will redo the DL moves and map the moves to the R-stick. The moves available are simply too limited.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
This game is awesome. Although it did freeze on me once after I got a huge TD with LSU to take the lead. One thing I found interesting and I'm sure it was in last year's game as well, the announcer will sometimes say "They should probably just squib it here", but there's no option for a squib kick. Funny how they would record this and then not put the play in the game.
Anyways, can't wait for the 15th!Comment

Can't download from PS Store
For some reason, although I have a high-speed connection, my PS3 is really slow when it comes to downloads - I think it's the way my network is set up.
But anyway, if it's available on a website somewhere I could download it at work and burn it to DVD, then put the DVD in the PS3 and start from there. I've seen the download for the XBOX360 version, but not for PS3. The PS3 store lists it as a download but doesn't have a link to download it. Is it available anywyere?---------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
I'll have to agree with you about some folks not giving it an unbiased look. I was strongly against 08(it's obvious since I received an infraction for trolling) mainly due to feeling short-changed. I'm still pissed that they left out so many things like Spring Game and such. It still baffles me that PS2 has more options than PS3. It's wrong.Honestly I don't think some of the guys who hate it are giving it a fair chance. I just don't see how some could say its not improved. I think the people who don't like it already made up their mind before they even played it. I mean damn, this game feels so different then 08 its crazy. Tons more anims, improved graphics, players have weight and momentum. I for one cant wait till July 15th.
However, I feel pretty good about 09. There's no excuse for still not having all the features PS2 has, but I've bitched for a year and it's easier to go along with. It's easy to see how much better the game looks and the menus are finally right. I hope it's that quick when setting a depth chart.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here
I must concure with this. When I first got my PS3 it was with the idea in mind that everything i had on ps2 version would be there and then some. All i play is NCAA for like 9 months a year, every year. To bad i traded in all my ps2 games thinking they were useless. I miss NCAA07 now.I'm still pissed that they left out so many things like Spring Game and such. It still baffles me that PS2 has more options than PS3. It's wrong.
