Yeah, but you still have to tweak them to work on 08. Theres a couple of straight converts on their forums.

Re: Grey Dog Software Releases Total Extreme Wrestling 2008

I'm thinking about getting this game. Having never played it though, I have a bunch of questions:

      1) Do you have to book finishes, or can the winners of each match be a surprise? Do you have the option?

      2) How long does it take to run a card?

      3) When looking at the screen shots, it looks like the game is made up of fictional wrestlers. Can you edit the in game wrestlers to real life stars? And, if you can, are any of the fictional wrestlers based off real life guys? For example, Fire Pro Wrestling had fictional characters too, but it was pretty easy to figure out who was who; you just had to rename them.

      4) Do you have to use one of the pre-made feds, or can you create a new one from scratch. for example, if I wanted to re-launch WCW, could I do it?

      5) As the "promoter", can you get fired? One thing that I don't like in sports games is that when you run a Franchise, sometimes you can get "fired"... major bummer. lol

      6) And finally, is anyone playing this on the Mac? I'll have to use Boot Camp and run Windows XP on that, and I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same thing.

      Thanks!

You can pick the winner or you can leave it up to the road agent.

Depends, I can usually book an hour show in about 15 minutes if I'm rushing and not thinking it out, and running it is quick, as it's just text and notes and etc.

There are mods out there with real wrestlers. I don't believe any wrestlers are just renames of existing wrestlers.

You can create feds before a game, and then assign yourself as owner once you start it up.

You can get fired as the head booker, but you can't as owner. You can only leave as owner by retiring or having your fed go under financially.

Can't help you on the last one.

Thanks for the info... it sounds great. How does it compare to TNm 7? Better? Worse?

And can wrestlers age in this game? For example, could I hire a rookie Ric Flair, run 30 years, and watch him retire? What about career-ending injuries?

I'm pretty sure you can run it with Boot Camp.

Of course wrestlers age and retire. There's a Hall of Immortals for when the superstars do. Career enders are in, I just haven't seen any yet in my game.

That's what I'm hoping for, thanks.

Sorry for all the questions, but I'll be shelling out quite a bit for this game if I get it. A couple more:

              1) If you create your own fed, does it have to start small?

              2) And can you in fact create a wrestler from scratch? How many can you create?

              3) Where can I download mods from? Do mods for previous versions of the game work in 08?

If you create it in game, it has some choices. If you make it in the editor, then you can make it 100% pop everywhere and trillions of dallars.

You can create as many wrestlers from scratch as you want.

You can get mods on the forums. You have to put 07 mods through a converter to get a 08 mod.

The game is wide open when it comes to creating whatever you want. Hell if you want to run a all womens hardcore tag team fed then you can, you could do anything that involves wrestling basically. I suggest downloading the demo and play around with the editor, you'd be surprised at the options you can customize.

Well, I can't get the demo yet... I'll be shelling out quite a bit for this game if I get it. Running on my Mac, I'll have to upgrade to Leopard to run Boot Camp, and then get a copy of Windows XP. I just want to be sure that it's worth it, hence all the questions.

Well let me put it this way, ive been playing this series since Extreme Warfare 7500 and all the games are worth playing and buying(04-08). Speaking of Extreme Warfare 7500, has anyone here tried Promotion Wars when it was out? from what i remember i used to enjoy that game more than EW.

I remember Promotion Wars. I liked it a lot back in the day. It was a very cool alternative to EW. It's a shame that it never got 'picked up' like EW (TEW) did and allowed to be fully fleshed out. That was a great time for the wrestling text sims when we had both EW and PW, and the community had a lot of people with big ideas about creating new text sims. I remember being excited about a lot them that never got released, lol. I also remember a few really solid efforts back then that never got much publicity.

Yeah Promotion Wars was great, alot of memories with EW and PW. I remember being so hyped for the release of EWR that i stayed up all night waiting for it to come out which it did around 6:30am here in the west coast. Just a heads up, D16 from the GDS forums has released two awesome mods. He released a 91 and 92 mod, they're amazing...must try.

Yeah, if you declare a winner, the winner wins.

If you don't, the road agent pretty much takes all of the factors about popularity and push, and picks the winner. It's not random, but you're letting the computer take the information and choose the winner.
