Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time
The biggest things I remember about 2005 were the drops and the absolute gutting of the playbooks. Literally there were 2 running plays, dives/isos and pitches.
Even more painful considering how fantastic Madden 2005 and NFL 2k5 were.Comment

ncaa 04 was the greatest football game ever made(overall wise). this game had the best recruiting system to date( ireally enjoyed that), and the online multiplayer was bananas. this game totally rocked.Oakland Athletics/Phillies

Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time
No doubt- 2004 is, by far, the best in the series to this point. It was a phenomenal game. I won't agree with the best football game comment though
There are only two games that I have purchased that I instantly wanted my money back after playing the game:
NCAA 2005 with the ridiculous stuttering on the Xbox and MLB 2K6. The NCAA series for me went downhill bad after 2004.

Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time
My question for any of the developers stalking around here is how did so much go so wrong for 2005 after 2004. I mean it was uncanny how the game went from best to worst.Comment

Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time
Notre Dame was the only real entrance. The others were generic. Did you watch it every time? Just wondering.Dude, I love having you guys on the board and I have gotten a chance to sink a lot of time into the game. For 2004 to be topped, in my opinion, the presentation needs a big bump. Nothing beats the Notre Dame intro (Whom I hate) or Miami coming out of the smoke. Those same animations with new models and the player spotlights and you might have a winner.Comment

Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time

This is why I love the hardcore gamers! The game was the best and LA Tech would be a power house in year 7.
Now, if LA Tech were to be a powerhouse in year 7 on NCAA 09, we'd get GRILLED on this board!

Yes. Due to memory reasons the entrances had to be killed in favor of ESPN Gameday/Virtual Corso (as we called it).Comment

Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time
I agree 05 was bad.
07 was stripped down? You're talking about the Next Gen (Xbox 360) version right? Keep in mind it was a totally new game versus another iteration on the game that started in 2002.
08 I don't think was awful. At final, I thought it was pretty good.... but after playing it for a while I changed my mind. We made huge strides there (video highlights, deep recruiting, 60 fps on xbox), but it just didn't "come together" to make it a great game.

Re: Top Five NCAA Football Games of All Time
Looks like I'm on a roll in this thread so I'll post one more before going to bed!
My answer? I don't know. Sorry. Can't say much other than that. The feature set was sweet (Home field advantage, sanctions), but I guess a lot of stuff went wrong and things got fixed poorly at the last minute.
I wasn't that involved at the time, so I'm just speculating based on my experience. I also didn't play it much after launch because of the drops.Comment

I can't believe 06 for xbox isn't getting more love! I thought that was the best one ever, with 08 close behind it, and 09 (hopefully) ahead of it.
1. NCAA 06 (Xbox)
2. NCAA 08 (Xbox)
3. NCAA 04 (Xbox)
4. Gamebreaker 99 (PS1)
5. College Football 96 (Sega)
I was dominant in 96, but my dad was better lol. I got a sega for my birthday that year, and my dad bought it well in advance and opened it right away and would play NCAA while I was sleeping. He beat me up until High School in any football game, it was sweet having a gamer dad.
NCAA 06's running game was awesome, and I play with Minnesota, so Lawrence "Kool-Aid Man" Maroney would tear up the turf. My friend and I would sit and run practice with the Gophs against the Gators, put the ball at the 1 yard line and see who could go the distance running dive out of ace big,
Anyone know if they put random play in practice this year? That feature would keep me busy for hours!
Hopefully 09 is a new number 1.Florida State Seminoles-Minnesota Twins-Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Golden Gophers-Orlando Magic-Minnesota Wild

I did. I still watch every pre-game,halftime and post game along with the weekly wrap up in my NFL 2k5 franchise and this is 1000's of games later.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
