Re: NCAA Football 09 Demo Available: Discuss Here

The negatives I see in the demo:

    - Slip screen is cheese
    - DB's sit back and let you have the underneath routes all day. Hooks are extremely easy.
    - Pass rush isn't really there
    - HB's dust LB's, especially on outs

All of these have been said and I'm just saying that I see them too.

Do I really like the demo: yes! I'm not going to repeatedly call screens nor am I going to play against people who are going to exploit these flaws. Therefore I'm not worried about anything.

Just need to find a way to stop the passing game and form some type of pass rush when the retail version comes out.

I've managed to get a sack or two every game, but then again this is on varsity. But, i've yet to truly exploit/try the other 3 cheese items.

But has anyone actually been able to perform Circus? And speaking of trick plays, are there any others in the given playbooks?

I think one of the great things about an online dynasty is that if you cheese, you're going to get called out on it and the commish can make you clean up your act or you are out.

I haven't played online since some guy on 2004 would call Hail Mary and then QB scramble for 8 yards every time. At least I know the CPU won't cheese me!

With online dynasty, I think I'm going to have to jump back into the mix.

I think it is a fair early representation. It gives us a taste, and that is all it is supposed to do. This was an early buld. I can see the differences even on varssity. The AI is better, and yes of course the sliders are not adjusted and this is not the final build. I believe it will be a good one... I have played with OSU several times and LSU only twice, yea I am a Buckeye fan...If you know how to use the controls you will do well. There is a great pas rush, if you know what you are doing....Jam the receivere and stunt the D lineman..It would help to know the attributes but its only a demo, so just enjoy the little gift...+

I won't play another one for another 5 years I'm sure so why is it still in there. Maybe I'm totally alone on this one but I doubt it.
I'll be saying this for so long it might be on my gravestone!

Mascot games are simply loading a different player model and adding an team select interface. It was a one day task. It takes up NO space. None. Zero.

Team entrances, sideline interaction, coach carousel? Those takes months to do, they require new technology, they require memory budgeting... these are BIG features, whereas mascot games are a small feature. At least in terms of budgeting. We can only do a finite amount of things to the game in one year. Would we like them? YES! We'd love to have them! We try to get them in every year.

Comparing features like those to mascot games is like comparing apples to pencils. There IS no comparison.

Woo-hoo! The first person who noticed how commentary is different! The best play by play lines are when you catch the ball and go immediately out of bounds or when you are hit on the throw or throw across your body and it gets picked.

No, it wasn't "thrown together." It was "branched." About 3 weeks before final, the game was brought over into a demo project. Then about a week of work was put in to make it actually a demo instead of the full game.

Did you all test the demo? - Not that it mattered, but just wondering

Well hopefully your testers can see the gaps in the offensive line as well as the receiver going the opposite way with the ball.

Yea the commentary is very different because when I did the game winning run in OT they said a new line like this has to be the top 5 finishes of all-time and what not. I thought it was pretty cool!

                        OT is in the demo?

I've yet to try out OT just because I was afraid the demo would end at regulation, but i'll be sure to keep the score a deadlock just to try out OT.

Honestly I feel like i'm doing my own testing.

And the wide receivers have no sense of where the sidelines are at all.

Yes, but they were testing demo specific stuff. The bugs you mention should have been found by the gameplay test team. These two I read here over the weekend, and on monday I am going to check the bug database to see if they were found, and if so... when they were fixed. I know the date that the demo was branched, and based on when they were fixed, I'll be able to say if they are in the final product.

So wait until Monday and I'll see what I can find out.

just referring to Russell's quote of your post about all those features. I fondly remember them on the old xbox which what exactly did that have that this didn't in order to produce such?

Don't you all get paid for putting ads in places like the EFFING defensive audible selection?
