Keeping it Real With Madden NFL 09 Franchises

Many Madden gamers are ultra dedicated towards getting the most realistic game possible out of their franchises. From the infamous Madden 2005 manifesto at MaddenMania to the abundance of Operation Sports users who tweak sliders and rosters for ultimate realism, dozens of Madden fans try to keep it real with their Madden NFL 09 franchises.

"But wait…isn’t the Madden development team already taking care of that? Not exactly. For years there have been groups of gamers that must have the most realistic NFL gaming experience possible. These players have gone to great lengths to ensure that they, and the general public, do not have to settle for less than the best."

This is so true yet so wrong for us to have to do this. Come on EA, step your game up. Work overtime if you have to. We all want a fun and interactive franchise to play sometime in this lifetime.

NICE read Chris. So true. I remember the manifesto very very well. I still have the entire print out in a folder like a book. It was that important

Work overtime if they have to? Yeah, I'm sure they are clocking in at 8, taking their one hour lunch and punching out at 5 Monday through Friday.

WOW I was moved by this Chris and how right you are. This has been going on and it seems as though EA has never cared about this part of the game. One would think all the years that has past us by,They would always make this part of the game better for all to play.I guess in time we'll know if ea is really about being in the game.

You mean sliders aren't broken to the point people put in countless hours to try to fix a fatal glitch that isn't fixable. You mean teams play like the actual team and not to the skill level/sliders you're playing against.

I don't think Madden and the word sim belong in the same sentence. The PC version with franchise editors and global editing could do this but EA didn't want to put any effort into the platform.

I like it real but i also like it simple-Play,Draft,sign FA and play next season....
But Franchise on Madden is Almost unplayable and will be even worse next season (Madden 09), so what should people who play little online mode do?
              Skip next season of Madden?
Does not bother me though, ill just wait for 2010

It's not Chris who wrote it (he just posted it). It was by Jeremy Hartman.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

Funny, I sim ahead until there is nothing but fictional players left then I start my franchise. I adjust settings to make teams play more like 1970 football than pass happy 2000 football. With Head Coach mode I will have a fun time creating all kinds of playbooks for CPU teams (hopefully you can assign two custom playbooks each game!).
