The problem is that there seems to be a bug with the Green Bay-specific logic (i.e. it's not working) - so there's a random chance that you could get that Spiderman-looking thing when you run to the wall. Many people were speculating this...you all were right. It's just the wrong animation being played.

So I guess it's better than nothing, as there's a 25% chance that you'll get the actual real Lambeau Leap.

I'm still looking into whether we can patch this to be 100% though.
Thanks Ian for the 411. Appreciate your hard work. Any more behind the scenes vids? So kool in my eyes and very interesting stuff.

I'm glad that it somehting rather than not having nothing at all. Yeah its more of a spidey wall climb but its close to what it was supposed to be.

Some people just love to complain about everything and WILL NEVER EVER BE HAPPY, you could make the best madden ever and they will find out that you forgot to give the ref a whistle or somthing along those lines. I've come to the conclusion that most madden basher's will always be madden basher's no matter what.

Instead of saying wow they really stepped up this year, the game looks amazing , plays amazing, ect.... Lets jump on the negative bus and ride it down there throats. C'mon is that lambeau leap really gonna stop you from buying the game? Get over it or simply dont trigger it.
It maybe insignificant to you, but to Packer fans, it's down right embarrassing. Earlier in the thread, I gave EA the benefit of the doubt and said some players needed a boost to get into the stands. After careful consideration, Jennings can leap into the stands with his eyes closed.

As long as Ian acknowledged it and is trying to resolve it, why not complain to see if there is a quick fix?

I think Ian is grateful that it was discovered now instead of an hour in everyone's consoles.

Way to be accountable. It's not a game killer by any means but it would be great if it could look like the motion capture you just showed.

Yeah, but there are other post play features that would've been more beneficial in some of our eyes. Whoever worked on this could've worked on QB/coach cut scenes after INTs, OL/coach cut scenes after a 3rd down sack, DB/coach cut scenes after giving up a TD pass, ect. Like someone asked earlier, how many players actually celebrate to this extent? Where as EVERY coach talks to his QB after throwing a pic. EVERY OL coach talks to his line after giving up sacks or not producing yards on the ground. There's always coaching going on. Celebrations are much more rare.

You don't think it wouldv'e been a better idea to eliminate the dunk option for those players? How many lay ups over the goal post have you actually seen in an NFL game?

The video shoot is over. Now, it's time to air!! I'm sitting at home anxiously waiting to see the show.

OK, the camera is panning over to the Bentley. Oh, yeahhhh!!

The camera zooms in...........................to the bird poop on the mirror.

That's what IGN does in some of their Madden videos. They don't have to hype the game, but if they're given early access and priviledges, they should damn well give a good presentation.

If they're supposed to give us an unbiased opinion, they're doing a bad job at it.
Except that there's not much reason to show bird poop on someone's window. The show is meant to show off the crib, not sell it. If the show were about maid service, I'd go with your analogy.

IGN's job is to give previews of the game. They highlighted celebrations and those celebrations are in the game. Had they not shown them, folks would claim they hid them from us in the midst of a EA/IGN conspiracy. AND, there would be no communicating this to the powers that be.

Terrible excuse. If it's not the particular artist's fault, it's his manager or director. It's someone's job to focus the talent.

I'm happy as hell you're around to take suggestions. But I also think it's unacceptable that we're doing QA for you all. Why are the fans responsible for pointing out uniform, animation & celebration mistakes?

It's hard to believe this stuff is getting by management without notice.

As has been said before, I'd like to thank Ian for taking the trouble to trawl the forums and then having another positive outcome in a matter of hours. Thanks very much mate, it really is appreciated.

I don't think there has ever been so much fan involvement with any game. Just think of all the things that have been altered already, just from people like Ian coming to forums like this.

Given a choice, what do you think the average Madden fan would rather see: cut scenes like you described, or lot's of wild and outlandish celebrations?

Come on man - cut me some slack here. I'm on here at all hours of the day and night (100% voluntarily), and I didn't even work on the game for the past 4 months or so. Comments like yours will push other designers and artists away from the boards. Mistakes are going to happen, period. No game has ever shipped in the history of the world without a mistake. The fans aren't responsible for pointing out these mistakes, but given the scope of the game I think it's much better that we utilize the thousands of people on here as opposed to the 4 or 5 designers that are working 100 hour weeks to get the game out the door. Would you agree with that? I want you to be critical of the game...without a doubt...but I would really appreciate if you draw the line of attacking me and my team so personally. Sound fair?

It's really quite simple, the general public likes players to celebrate more than any of the other stuff you described. Once again another OS'er has tunnel vision in thinking with what they want instead of seeing the big picture. For what it's worth I 100% agree with you, just saying..

We've got your back, Ian. I think the passion that football gamers have for Madden gets the best of them (us) sometimes. Between you and the guys from SCEA that are here taking input about The Show, I'm incredibly impressed with the willingness of you guys to take input from the hardcore sports gamers and implement it in a timely fashion.

Just ignore the complainers. We'll be critical, I know you want that, but there's no need for you to put your neck on the line because a few people feel the need to jump on you directly. If people have beef, they should take it to EA. You're not a messenger boy. So keep it up.

That being said, a 100% guarantee of that Lambeau Leap never hurting my eyes again would be desirable.

Why not make it 10 designers? 15? 20?

I know that decision may rest outside your purview of authority, but doesn't the size of the Madden franchise warrant a bigger staff?

Is it possible to post video of the actual Lambeau Leap in Madden 09?

                          Re: Update

It's obvious that most of the people on this board don't have a clue about software development. It's easy to point out one flaw when you have nothing else to do. It's another thing to point out said flaw when you have 100 higher priority items due yesterday.

The same goes for rosters. People throw a hissy fit every time the 5th string linebacker is 2 points slower than he should be. People don't realize how hard it is to get every player right when your doing every team from top to bottom.

As long as humans are still developing software mistakes will be made, PERIOD.

Ian, as always thanks for the responses and checking into the issue. However, from now on please keep the NBA Live guys away from your game. I can only assume they are the ones responsible for implementing the glitchy layup/dunk animations that are found in their game as well. j/k.
