Good Point. If your working on an NFL specific celebration there is no excuse for not knowing exactly what that celebration looks like.

The problem is that there seems to be a bug with the Green Bay-specific logic (i.e. it's not working) - so there's a random chance that you could get that Spiderman-looking thing when you run to the wall. Many people were speculating this...you all were right. It's just the wrong animation being played.

So I guess it's better than nothing, as there's a 25% chance that you'll get the actual real Lambeau Leap.

I'm still looking into whether we can patch this to be 100% though.
so will we see both of the Lambeau Leap variations that you showed the mocap videos from a few pages back or just the second one?

Please, it has nothing to do with that. Just because you want madden to be the best it can be and you criticize it, doesn't mean it has anything to do with 2k. Comments like this are what start those silly EA/2K wars that used to happen so often. EA is NOT putting out the greatest football game ever this year, so if the criticism helps them to get more things right for now and in the future, then that will be good for all football fans. I haven't read many comments that were complaining just to complain. Just because YOU don't care about the lambeau leap and other details doesn't mean they aren't important to other people. I'm a diehard cowboys fan and don't care too much for the Packers but an "accurate" Lambeau leap adds to the "little things" in the game that IMO madden has never had.

At one point somebody at Tiburon thought it was cool to add the air raid sound on deep passes and it lasted a couple years. Same as someone thinking the QB animations were good enough/cool for the past four years. Or any other number of other issues.

Back in the day 989 gave gamers the ability to breakdance after sacks, and because of the direction the game went the game died shortly after.

NBA2K8's standing teleport dunk irritates many people to no end. I'm sure they'll remove it for NBA2K9, if there is a 2K9 (grrrrrr).

Doesn't seem like it's as much a mistake as someone thought it was cool to add it in the first place. It's not a personal attack; it's happened with many sports games.

Ian, is there anyway we can get a list of any player specific celebrations and the general ones as well? I know someone mentioned some like throwing the ball at the other team's logo on the wall, Larry Johnson's diamond, etc. Being from Dallas, I would love to see Terrell Owens do his T-O thing with his arms which he did a lot more often than the dances. Or I would like to see Randy Moss' little superman celebration as well

Or folks that grew up in Japan or Korea their whole life and are relatively new to the US. You've got to realize that not every single person in a creative field like animation might not know what Green Bay players specifically do whenever they score. That's why there are folks like me around here - and unfortunately I never saw it to sign off on.

                    Ian,

I completely understand what you mean, but what I don't get is this:

If an artist isn't familiar with the Lambeau Leap--fine. I can buy that he/she isn't from the US...or is a nerd and didn't watch many Packers games.

But, if your job is to create realistic NFL celebrations, don't you have a stack of Packers game tapes on your desk? Don't you do your research on how the Lambeau Leap looks?

That's my confusion, because while I understand that some things in the NFL a given EA artist might not inherently know, isn't it their job to seek it out, research, and learn about it so that they can accurately replicate it in a game?

                      You have to be kidding.

Look a mistake was made, not only did he own up to it, he provided proof that they did in fact capture the correct thing. Sure it should have been caught but it wasn't. But it happened and they are trying to fix it.

Instead of seeing that and moving on this thread has gone from talking about the videos to telling the devs of the game they aren't doing their job right, starting the old 2k vs EA thing again, demanding more resources be allocated and in some cases telling them how their dev time should of been spent because they didn't implement exactly what YOU wanted.

The condescending attitude and sense of entitlement some of you demonstrate is nothing short of spectacular. I amazed these guys are sticking it out on these forums.

You don't see how this thread has taken a wrong turn, give me a break. I'm surprised the mods haven't locked it down yet.

I'm fully aware some people enjoy celebrations more than those things. My points were: Get it right if you're going to dedicate so much time to it. And there are events that happen much more frequently, that could've been pulled off much easier and looked better.

What % of folks you think would take a good looking coach/QB cut scene over a lay up celebration?

Probably 10% at the most. Most of the general public who play these games would prefer to have their players celebrate than see a coach/QB cut scene. Those scenes appeal to people like us here at OS, not the general public near as much.

                              1. Post play is a totally different area from gameplay...so if anyone's concerned about us spending too much time here and not focusing on gameplay issues, that concern is invalid
                              2. The "dunk" is not a dunk - that's a specific layup animation for players that are too short or don't have a high enough jump rating to actually dunk over the post
                              3. I am actually pretty upset about the Lambeau Leap animation - that's the first time I've actually seen it in game, and it seems they used one of the wall celebration animations from NFL Tour instead of the real Lambeau animation. I know this because I directed the motion capture of 2 variations of it - see videos:

I will check to see if we can sneak a change in for a patch. I know it's not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's not even close to what we are supposed to be using for the Lambeau Leap - you all are right - it's like Spiderman or something. Just a mistake here by whoever was working on it...we don't have accuracy experts working on every aspect of the game so sometimes things like this can slip through.

                              4. I am pretty sure the Mile High salute is still in

                              5. You CAN steal another player's celebration. So if you score against TO, and you hit the steal button (I think it's B / Circle), you have a chance of doing one of TO's celebrations.
Thanks for posting.....its crazy how they put one thing in the green room and the product ships another...you should find him and lambeau leap his *** out of EA office whoever did that lol, but hey i dont even use the packers so as long as the gameplay is better i'll give it a shot and see whats good
