And, i am not just refering to NCAA Football. You here the same whining about every game out there in their respective forums. Scenario every time: People buy game day one without researching, same people find out the game is not without bugs (none are), same people whine endlessly with "woe is me" money stories.

    boring.....

    Anyway...this is offtopic...
It's not "woe is me" when it comes to money. Far from it. And I don't expect software to be bug free. I'm a programmer, I know how the industry works. Which makes these issues even more frustrating. People here found issues within 2 days that months of testing at EA didn't turn up? If so, then the testing department needs to be under serious scrutiny. I have a serious problem with spending $60 to be a paying bug tester. I play games for fun, yet with NCAA, it feels like work this year. So save your "shame on me" crap for someone who will buy your pathetic argument.

Oh, and it's bad form to suddenly cry "off-topic" when someone takes on arguments you brought up.

I agree about people whining about not having any money....STFU if you have money to spend on video games you are not poor...if you have a job or the ability to post on these forums you are not poor.....or what you think is poor is not what the true reality of being poor is.

I enjoy the game despite the flaws and hope the game will be better after both patches are completed.
The patch referenced refers to only the rosters issue. There has been no announcement about a patch to deal with sliders, warping players, superhuman QBs, superhuman OL, etc.

Of course major flaws should be addressed, but i wouldn't say the game is entirely "broken" per say. I am playing the heck out of my dynasty and having fun as well as playing against friends online. I have experienced a few issues but nothing I would consider game breaking.

Every game ever made for any system has bugs and flaws out of the gate. The point is, we all should know by now that this is par for the course....and we have the resources to investigate these things before spending the cash.

Personally, I stopped buying Madden games every year. I skip years as I don't think the roster updates and minor tweaks are worth the money every year.

I believe I read on this site that they planned on releasing a second, larger patch addressing gameplay issues later. This patch is a quickie to fix the roster issue.

That's the plan, and I'm pretty sure they will. However, sometimes this kind of stuff falls out of development's hands, and someone higher up will kill the idea. I think these issues are big enough that doing that would be terrible PR, but until there's an announcement, anything can happen.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

Being in the software development world myself I know that "patches" and "fixes" are all about cost/benefit analysis. At what point do you cut your losses and just move on to next year's product, because if you wait around too long fixing this one you will only be in a greater hole come next year's release.

If they work on a patch or fix and it won't be done and tested and released to Sony/Microsoft to be approved until December you've used up all of that time in between where you could have been refining next year's product.

Now granted, some of this stuff pops up year after year and you wonder why on earth this stuff makes it from year to year without being fixed, but maybe now that they have their ear lower to the ground by being in forums, a lot more issues will be more blatantly obvious. It's definitely a lot easier to see flaws when you're not the one that built it from the ground up for sure. It's like having someone else proofread your writing, it always looks right to you.

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement

I understand the conflict between fixing this year's product vs. working on next year's but when a major element of the game (i.e. sliders) is completely broken, isn't there an obligation to fix it even though it means you get behind?

By all indications, they want the game to be more wide open so maybe the offense will always have an advantage but at least you can make it so someone has the ability to tweak it to their liking, which is the whole reason sliders exist in the first place.

One more thing they should try to fix is the computer AI. They always hike the ball at the first opportunity even when they should be killing the clock. Unbelievable.

It is what it is...and with technology that's the case. I never buy something day one. I am glad I didn't buy the 360 day one...got a second generation one and haven't had any of the overheating issues the original production run had.

Which I totally agree with. What I'm saying is first buyer on the 100th buyer, if the product isn't what it is supposed to be then it needs fixed rather than the "seller" getting a free ride..

                                Hopefully EA makes good.
