Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
Don't stop after one, just keep the patches coming, this games has plenty wrong with it. such as winning a game on online dynasty, then when the dynasty leader advances the week you magically lose . 95Frazier, is right we are not getting love from EA. Seems it hit rock bottom after they bought the official NCAA license in 2005. I hope a lot of the bugs and annoying features are fixed by the patches because i love college football.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
OMT-
Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time with all of this. It's pretty cool to have someone listen to a community like this- as immature as we can get in here, it's really appreciated what you are doing.
I'm one of those unfortunate people who work all day, then have to be a husband after work- so basically I am not glued to my computer. What's the current word on patching the sliders. This game is great, but honestly would be perfect in my eyes if I could play with the sliders a bit (I need to generate a pass rush). Is this something for the 2nd patch? Before the 2nd patch? High priority?
Ohh, yeah, can we have bowl patches back next year?
Thanks again.
But I'm looking into the bowl patches for 2010... it is very complicated though, and will take a lot of work. I wouldn't be surprised if we decide to cut it and put that work into bigger features. But hey, it hasn't been cut yet! I don't know about the sliders in the 2nd patch... it has been sent on to the gameplay team as our (NCAA game team) top request from them to fix, but I can't make a promise there. I really want it fixed personally, for what it is worth.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
I guess there is just a lot of video games going through certification right now, so we are now estimating a 15 day lead time on patches. I think this roster bug patch is going to be out in the first week of August, which is a bummer. Sorry guysComment

Well, I'm bummed now. No wonder I got the cold response from EA support.
Thanks for answering me though, I really appreciate it.Comment

Your avatar has somehow, after 20 seconds of starring, forced me to reply again. There has got to be some voodoo going on here! Err... Oh yeah... do you think a slider fix will make your pass rush preference's work? Or is that not covered there? I'm not a slider lab guy myself.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
Some like OMT do care, but I'm sorry to say he seems to be the exception rather than the rule. I got a very cold response from EA support on a bug in the game this year. And EA really needs to take a hard second look at who they are using for their bug testing and their timetables for getting things done by.
It should not be a yearly occurance that major bugs are in the game every time it is released. They just need to get their priorities straight. I remember one year for the PC version they were bragging about shiny helmets. As if anyone gives a rats *** about shiny helmets. Meanwhile there were many other problems with the game.
Yeah, the grass looks much better this year now, but was anyone complaining last year about how bad the grass looked? I don't think so. I would have gladly gone another year without realistic grass if my custom configs were bug free and my running back wasn't trying to pitch the ball and run fast when using LT when I just want him to run faster.
Oh.. BTW... Go Bucs!Comment

I certainly appreciate your participation Omt and think EA is doing lightyears better interacting better with customers than in years past. That said however there is no slider fix in the world that will change the gameplay flaws associated with the pass rush issue. I am pretty sure you can logically deduce that the pleaing for it to be addressed in the second patch speaks volumes to the sliders ineffectiveness in this area of the game. It is not a matter of having not tried.
I personally would just like to know straight out if EA shares the opinion that any of the gameplay is flawed. If the pass rush issue and nuetered defense is a working example of properly implemented "wide open gameplay" then I would to like to know this. No reason to hope for a change if you all dont deem one as needed and I am subject to what you provide me option wise."Another brick in the house"- Lloyd Carr after Michigan's victory over the Washington Huskies in the 2002-2003 season.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
Would this mean the second patch would have a fix for commisioners frozen in dynasties? Or would that be an "emergency patch" altogether. Because September would be a very long time to wait before I could retire and make a whole new dynasty.
EDIT: Okay just read this page :P and saw 1st patch was delayed...So can I then assume if the Dynasty thing is figured out before the first patch it could be included in it?Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
Maybe I missed it amongst the 47 pages, but I am just curious if it has been stated directly by Omt that the second patch will address anything gameplay wise. Now it just seems to be speculation with a whole spectrum of what it could be? Omt if it is gameplay can you once and for all confirm what aspect it will address? Thanks again."Another brick in the house"- Lloyd Carr after Michigan's victory over the Washington Huskies in the 2002-2003 season.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch Announcement
OMT, I think we can all agree here is that as long as the majority of the issues here listed are fixed keep the gameplay the same into '10. If it ain't broke then dont' fix it. Makes presentation and the extra things better, bring in a halftime report etc. I think once you nail down teh gameplay and make it better via 2nd patch keep it. Include the same core gameplay into 2010. Then as little time as you have to make 2010, gameplay wise there woudn't be much but improve AI. I'm not sure what list of things you have to do but I think the struggle is to figuring out what is working now, what we can fix in 2nd patch and what to keep right now after 2nd patch and last what to improve.

Man, at least read some of the more recent posts before asking something like this.
Originally posted by OMT at 10:33 tonightWell, there is some stuff that is already in the patch. This is stuff we identified and started on before the game hit shelves. Now that more issues are coming out we are identifying the ones we want to fix the most. I was going to do an official patch announcement of some kind when I knew, and still will, but I'll give a sneak peak based on what I know cause I love your avatar so much.
We fixed 2 recruiting exploits
Fixed a rare online desynch
Added half time highlights
Changed custom sounds so you can hear your opponent's while on the road
Fixed the exploit that custom sounds will tip you off when your opponent is going to fake punt/kick on 4th down
That's all I can remember off the top of my head. There are some others but I don't have the patch list in front of me as I'm posting at home right now.
It is still up in the air as to the stuff that we didn't have identified until the game went public. They are all on the gameplay team so I am not involved in their decision whether or not to fix them. The NCAA team's top two issues we want fixed is kick coverage and sliders.
It is best to wait on an official announcement, because any of this could change at any minute. I'll let everyone know once everything is locked down and finished, cause I don't want to mislead anyone. ONCE AGAIN, these aren't promises!Comment

Please keep in mind that gameplay is a totally different team. We split that out into a specialized team a couple years ago. So I'm not an expert on this stuff. I think the problem is that the short passing stuff is always there. That is why they don't go deep, and that is why the QB rarely feels pressure. I mean... if the easy 5-7 yards is there, why not just take it unless it is 3rd down and you need more?
But as I said before.. I'm a feature guy, not an X and O guy. Variety is very important to making a game that sells right?Comment
