Bottom-line, is the game/demo good or not to you? That is the questions.

Me being a diehard 2K fan see a lot of 2kism in this game. I am actually very pleased with the demo. This is leaps over EA previous efforts and NCAA is not even in the same decade (ha) as this game.

The one thing i do like about this game is the grass. Its top notch. The game looks really good before the hike. Once you hike it, i do not like their animations at all. They just dont look fluid to me. Game play seems to be a little bit better, but the game plays hell of fast you dont have time to react to anything. lol They throw real bullets. Well that is unless you lob it then you will have the defense all over the ball, so thats a no no unless your going 1 on 1 deep or on a fade. Another thing that irks me with Madden games is the damn pocket. There was no pocket. My guys get so bunched up it looks dumb. It didnt happen on every play, but alot.

Another thing, why cant you play defense? i am a defensive guy. I want to see how the defense plays. I know offense appeals to the casual fan, but at least let me play some in a demo.

My impression is NFL 2K5 will be my main football fix for at least another year. Madden is slowly improving, but the presentation is still lacking and the gameplay doesn't really flow like real football imo. 2K's engine does a better job of reproducing the natural flow of a play imo.

Demo took my excitement from 100 to 40! just made me realize this is just another .5 version of madden. Still the same game, same graphics (slightly better) same lame /cheeze AI etc.....

Improvement...time will tell, but for me.....Just the same crap as 08,07,06....Friggin EA

i could only play the demo for a very short time thus far:

1. the preplay art (route lines and such) show up MUCH better than last year and better than in NCAA09. it's kinda funny, cuz this is one of the suggestions i put into our threads with Iain...to simply darken the preplay art lines or to make them darker colors or something...just so it's easier to see where everyone is going to be heading on the play-cool that the lines are so brilliant in the game.

2. i ranked All Pro except for Pass Defense (rookie). i don't know how i did that well in the virtual trainer, but i absolutely suck at the real game thus far. i cannot complete a pass. seems i overcooked it a bit in the virtual trainer and i can't keep up with my "rating" in real gameplay. will there be an option to just play Rookie, Pro, All Pro, Madden like in previous years? God, I hope so.

3. Has anyone tried to run backwards to see if the defense just chases you all over the field w/out being able to tackly you?

4. The Play Call menu and the things you can do from the menu is awesome...especially Replay in full screen with the click of right stick.

Looks good overall...PLEASE let this turn out GREAT!

I just laugh at how John Madden talks about this game being this and that and how great the experience will be when you play this game...

But it's far from that ...I'm far from being blown away by this game right now... I admit the game is improved from last year but I'm not left with that feeling like WOW what an amazing game...
Hopefully next year I'll have that feeling...

I agree with this 100%%
The gameplay still doesn't feel "right" ...
EA needs to do something about the QB dropback ..it just doesn't look right in this game...it's way too fast

The demo did not make me want to purchase the game. The graphics looked great but the gameplay did not wow me in anyway.

I'm sure they're referring to when if you have the receiver on the outside running a fly and the receiver int the slot on the same side running an out, how the db who's following the receiver running the fly magically knows that the balls been thrown to the guy in the slot and makes his way back while the ball is still in the air.

He's not referring to one on one coverage, he's saying he hates the way a CB 15 yards down field running stride for stride with a reciever on a fly route can magically turn around and persue the ball the moment u throw it in the flat to a HB on that exact same side. Been a problem with Madden for years. But, in defense of EA, it only plagues the upper difficulties to make it challenging, and I think it's tied to the defense awareness. So adjusting that slider may help. EA's gonna have to take a look at 2K football and see what they did to remedy this.

Drops are driving me crazy. I don't know if the game is trying to screw me since I got 100% on the passing IQ thing, but I get probably 3 drops per drive. Also fatigue seems way overdone. The entire bench comes into the game after 5 or 6 plays. Jacobs goes from green to red in 3 carries. Toomer and Burress take themselves out of the game no matter what plays or routes they run.

Or better still, since Visual Concepts football team doesn't seem to be doing anything, why not hire then to help out with Madden 2010? Couldn't hurt.
