Re: **Official Madden 09 Demo Impressions Thread (360/PS3)**

There's really little that can be said about the demo being that it's so short. Other than the fact that I feel that the difficulty has been raised a few notches, it was very tough for me to get the Giants in the end zone. I don't know if it was the receivers dropping every freaking pass or the Patriots D intercepting every thrown ball. Either way, I found it very tough to pass the ball against them. I didn't get to run the ball that much since I was focused on getting the touchdown before time ran out. I must say that I really enjoyed the IQ Test portion of the demo, though I had some trouble with the rush defense part. Overall, it's an ok demo. Can't wait to try out the final product.

Re: Madden 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

This demo is pretty lackluster in my opinion, too many drops, wide open to the house type drops too, not "the safety is breathing down my neck" drops or "I'm about to fall down dead-tired" drops just outright drops for no reason at all. Consecutive on three plays in the demo, Burress, Toomer and Manningham dropped three passes to put me in another 4th down situation.

And I've found a bug already...if your O-Line gets a false start, the player that did it (it's been the RG now all three times) will walk away from the line of scrimmage (with no penalty being called) and just keep walking towards the opposite end zone.
Our purchasing power is being eroded. So especially now, the goods must be held to a standard. We end up happier as consumers, and the companies get a clear message: "We won't tolerate sub-par goods." It's a shame, no one cares to speak with their wallet.

Re: Madden 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

I hate the lighting on the players in this game. There is white haze on dark jerseys and a white outline around the players when in the gameplay camera that makes the players look they were cut and pasted onto the field.

Really distracting to me. NHL 2k6 for the 360 had the same problem and it drove me nuts. The close-ups post play aren't nearly as bad and the close-ups of the helmets are a thing BEAUTY!

honestly..i wasnt impressed at all with the demo..understanding that it is very limited with what you can do..i didnt enjoy it that much..does anybody know if the final build was much ahead of THIS build of the demo? It doesnt seem fully developed and I got frustrated with it pretty early..

Hopefully that will end this discussion and clear up any confusion my intial post caused. My fault guys.

i think it's tight. if it was like NCAA i would've been pretty distrustful. i liked what i saw.

i was sacked, had pockets, had nice runs, bad runs. NE d challenged me pretty good, atmosphere felt superbowlish ...

if the sliders work, i'm sold.

I couldn't disagree more. I felt like it has a lot of promise. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out, the demo is so short that it's really hard to tell. I had a lot of fun with the demo and after playing it a few times didn't see anything that stood out as doom and gloom negative.

A lot of people want to hate this game. How some are making such incredible leaps of judgment on a short demo are indicative of mistrust/negaitve attitudes towards EA. See the one post above where the person thinks the reason the demo doesn't let you play defense is because EA doesn't want you to know the defense is broken.

                    Mistrust.

It doesn't jive with me, and that's all there is to it. I'm glad people like the game and have fun with it, but I can't. It's the whole package from lighting, to graphics, overlays, sound, animation, presentation etc. I bought 07, and thought it was ok, and it's the same with this game. It's made improvements, but for me to buy a madden again it would have to be a totally DIFFERENT experience.

The game's not the problem, and I'm not the problem - me and the game together is a problem. Everyone else...enjoy.

I'm hoping some "reverse effect" will come into play here. I loved the NCAA demo but didn't like the game that much...I hate the Madden demo....maybe I'll end up loving Madden 09???

Me being a diehard 2K fan see a lot of 2kism in this game. I am actually very pleased with the demo. This is leaps over EA previous efforts and NCAA is not even in the same decade (ha) as this game.
I agree. Drops weren't a problem for me, and I'm not a Madden guy by any stretch. I guess it has something to do with the strength of the throw and the coverage of the player being thrown to. I see drops when I send bullet passes to my HB 10 yards away and drops when my WR is tightly covered. So guess what, I adjust the way I throw the ball.

As for the people who weren't "wowed" by the demo, what the heck did you expect? An experience which is exactly like strapping on the pads on actually playing the game? Sorry, it's a videogame and that's not going to happen.

It's a matter of good football videogame or bad football videogame, and I have a feelling that this one's going to be a good.

hey guys, while I was playing the demo I experienced a glitch. I threw a 40 yard bomb to Burress and when he caught the pass near the back of the endzone and it looked like one of those plays that the cpu would challenge. To me it looked like one foot was in and another was out. It allowed me to go for a two point conversion and be able to kick the ball off. I put the game on pause and decided to take some pictures of the score and the players before the kick off. I've been a lurker here for a while and I'm not a troll. Sorry if someone else already discovered this.
