all these issues with franchise player progression and gameplay is why i prefer madden for the ps2, i know theres know comparision with the graphics, etc., but the ps2 version is nearly flawless when it comes to rosters and franchise mode, ive been simming franchises for years on the ps2 and never had a problem ever
i got the ps3 and gameplay and graphics are amazing but some of the limitations with player and roster editing and franchise mode glitches minimize my interest in the ps3 version
so i'll stay with the ps2 version until they fix the ps3 or dont make the ps2 madden anymore

I think I got the roster update automatically when I started the game for the first time tonight. I do notice that Favre is gone from the Packers, but he's not with the Jets, Pennington is still on the Jets, and Shockey and Strahan are still on the Giants.

Then you didn't. With the default rosters Favre is not in the game, only on the all-time team or whatever they call it. Just go to play an online game and will prompt you to download the roster then ust quit the game then load the roster and start your dynasty.Michigan Wolverines

Anyone know if there is a way to get the roster update on Xbox 360 without a XBLive Gold account? I read earlier in this thread that there was supposed to be a way. Anyone know if thats true, and if so, how to get it?Comment

oops I just downloaded the roster. I thought the roster was part of the update, like it is on PC.
But as for overall impressions:
1) I love the new commentary, though I will wait for a final grade until I've played a few games and see if there's a lot of repetition.
2) The graphics and new unis are pretty good, although the player models look a bit stiff and robotic. Overall fairly good though.
3) Having adjustable AI and hints and icons below the players showing the controls is a good touch.
However there are a few negatives:
1) Why can't we change the controller setup? I do that all the time and, sorry, X button for stiff-arm just doesn't feel right. I usually use X for sprint (including QB), L2 for stiffarm, R2 for protect ball & throw away, and square, triangle, circle, L1, & R1 for the 5 receivers. It's more natural because then the "L1", "R1" buttons are both receivers, the L2, R2 are both running controls.
2) Can we please turn off the music during practice mode? I don't want to listen to "Madden Hip-Hop" while working on my plays.
3) The training mode and Madden IQ is nice but I think a bit unrealistic. I ran through the test and got All-Pro on running, Pro on passing, and rookie on defense (I almost never control defensive players). But I think the tests were a bit easy. I breezed through the rushing offense test, but then when I got in the game, I had -1 yards rushing because the defense was blitzing every play and I had no blocking. My Giants and the Packers combined for fourteen yards rushing! As much as I like Madden IQ, I miss the old-fashioned slider settings.---------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there a roster update available cause I got a PS3 but its far from my router and I cant get online? Please post it for download for me and how to get it to work with Madden. I got the Collector Edition as wellComment

Bro I have no clue. There's places that give you a 48-hour code for XBL Gold for 48hrs. Try xbox360forums.com they have thread for that. Here it is actually.

1) Why in the play selection menu, when selecting by play type, does "Special" not include special teams plays, just Clock Management and QB run? And why isn't QB run under the run menu?
2) I'm not sure about the roster menu setup. Why are depth chart, player management, roster breakdown, and free agent all in separate menus? The other three should branch right off player management?---------------------------------------------------------------------

So is there a roster update available? If so WHERE do I download it.
I just took Favre from the legends and put him on the Jets, and then fixed my Bears depth chart.

All you have to do is join a online match and it will prompt you to dl the rosters, save it, then start your dynasty. It's not that updated, they still had Pennington on FA list.
