Ok so I play with USF in the game and their academic prestige to start the dynasty was at good. After playing five seasons, it is at sub-par. Is there something that I am doing that may have caused this? Maybe cutting players who i offered scholarships to just to open up roster space? Is there a way of improving it?

Re: Academic Prestige in dynasty...
This has been confusing me as well. I really do think it's random though. I think they should add the GPA system back...So that you can get a lot of 3.0 GPA atheletes to improve your overall Academic Prestige. -

I've always wondered if AWR has anything to do with the academic stuff?Go Colts, Go Irish!!

This is weird, I think its random which is kinda dumb. But there should be some way for raising it.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates
AFL: Pittsburgh Power
NCAA: PITT Panthers

Re: Academic Prestige in dynasty...
well honestly the football program has absolutely no control over the academic prestige of the school. i would argue that a place like Notre Dame should never fall below Elite though (assuming they start at elite, i've never looked)AU Class of '05. War Eagle!Comment

Re: Academic Prestige in dynasty...
The way it should work is that players have a discipline rating that is used to determine Academic prestige. This is also used on the PS2 titles to determine how likely they are to get in trouble.
This rating should be on the current gen consoles, but I don't think we expose it anywhere. We really should if we truely are using it to determine Academic prestige.Comment

Yes...please note that for next year. It would be nice to know if we're bringing in guys who might hurt future recruiting!Comment

In this case, one of two things definitely needs to done then. Either reveal the discipline rating so the user will have some ability to affect the changing academic prestige, or keep the discipline rating hidden (or just get rid of, for that matter) and make the academic prestige ratings unchangeable.
If it were up to me, I'd make the academic prestige ratings unchangeable. How often do the athletes of a sports program actually impact the perception of a university's overall academic perception. I mean, with just a few exceptions, most academically highly regarded schools are loaded with scholarship athletes (especially in football) that would've never been admitted as regular students. And when someone gets in trouble at an Ivy League school, or a Duke, Stanford, etc., those schools are still as academically prestigious as ever.
Having the academic prestige rating in the game is good, as there are athletes that want a great education along with playing their sport and I like the way this is handled in the game now. Just need to make it stationary. I know that there are periodic lists of "best academic schools" (or some such stuff) in real life, but any fluctuations in these lists have more to do with the non-athletic aspects of the universities (things like the school's Law School, Medical School, research projects, etc.).Comment

Re: Academic Prestige in dynasty...
I know in 08, I increased my Academic rating from I believe Excellent to Elite with Georgia Tech..
The way I think I did it is when recruiting I wanted to recruit kids that took Academics very serious (Very High / MOST) . If they were Above Average or High, I would sway to get them as high as I could on Academics.
So Basically I got recruits in that had Academics rated high to most important and thus my academic prestige went up to elite. I don't know if this is conincedence, But it's what I implement to keep certain things that I want high.
This may mean dropping a 5* person that looks at academics as least important for a 4* that looks at it higher, but that's what I tend to do and my ranking increased and stayed there the next season too.
I think it makes sense that if you get kids in a program that don't care about a certain thing then that is going to decrease. If you want it to stay the same or increase then recruit kids that take those things as high importance and recruit the same way real colleges recruits. SEC schools may take the dumbest and fastest, but there's a lot more schools that will actually think about the athletes and how they can handle more than just the football field.Last edited by zanner; 08-14-2008, 02:07 PM.Comment

Re: Academic Prestige in dynasty...
So, by this logic, if I have an Elite rating for Championship Contender and I have a team full of awesome players who all had Championship Contender as their Least important pitch, my Championship Contender rating should fall. If I have an awesome, championship contending team, that's what they are, players' recruiting interest be damned. Same goes for all the other pitches. Because he doesn't care about Television Exposure, I'm not going to be on TV as much??Go Colts, Go Irish!!
