We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
Graphics wise, this game looks miles ahead of 2K8. Those player models are beautiful. The faces look spot-on. All of the previews make it sound like the atmosphere has been maximized as well.
This series is so damn good, a few tweaks and this could be the best game we've seen in a while.
Players can use deny defense, but run the risk of having the player they're guarding push by them in a quick cut in the opposite direction. The push and the deny defense are totally user controlled and need to be used wisely.
When the player on offense makes that cut the man on defense can tug on his jersey to slow him down. Do it too long and the refs will spot it and whistle you for a foul..

I wonder if they took some of that from us? Or if this was something they already planned on having in the game.
Why does it matter?!?!? It's not like you'll see their faces like that during gameplay! You don't even see their faces like that during a real life game, just in pictures! Calm down...
Please note, the amount of camera cuts we received in 2K8 were SIGNIFICANT, almost after every made bucket. Not to mention the new feature of highlight reels after each quarter, which will undoubtedly capture the action up-close and personal. To see such monotony in the faces of coaches and players was a total killjoy. Should we settle for mediocrity, when minor details can work together to create a much more significant product? My complaint is about as big as "accessory freaks". It's a valid reason to be upset.
To be honest, the only thing thing separating reality and the game itself (other than obvious graphical impossibilities) is emotion. It's hard to translate such a thing in video games, I know. But it's not impossible. This is something that can make the game leaps better than the previous iterations. It would be a massive gain in striving for "realism". No matter how small the detail.
How well you play your position and synergize with the rest of your team determines your Team 2K rating. The game uses the values to let people know what kind of player you are online. Play like a jackass and you'll have to invest some time to earn back respect.
I'm surprised nobody's talking about the player DNA feature. That's something I've seen a lot of people begging for on here for a while.Im gonna be ballin with MessenjahMatt's MJ!
[NYK|DAL|VT] A true MC, y'all doing them regular degular dance songs
You losin' your teeth, moving like using Kevin Durant comb Royce da 5'9"

Yea OMG, the person throwing himself out there for that torture must be a real soldier.
And just so people don't get too hyped, it's just a general community thing I'll be doing on here where peeps can ask questions. I'll be doing it for other various 2K and EA games I saw this week while out in Cali. I'm going to hop on a red eye shortly, but I have seen NBA 2K, I have played NBA 2K, I have knowledge about the 2K.
Should get home around 7 a.m. EST tomorrow, and after I get back to my senses I'll be around a lot of the day.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee).

Hye Chase, good to hear that you got your hands on 2k9.....lucky lol. But where should we expect the q&a to be? Will you just post a thread and have us ask questions?

How'd you enjoy the weather Chase?
Was it overcast up there from the coast or did you get to enjoy the same kind of weather we did here in LA?
Anyhow, looking forward to the QA!
I had really nice weather in the Bay Area. It was pretty much 65 and sunny when I was in SF. Then in Novato and Redwood City it was like 80 and sunny.
Anywho I'm boarding soon so I'm off for now.
