Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
They've been putting Kevin Payne in on nicked with the first unit lately so I dont' think Manning is slotted there. However with his big return night he may have saved his job.
I'll be the first one to champion the cause of Kyle Orton if he can play that well in the regular season. He had a solid night, especially the first TD pass. And yes Threeking he did have all night to throw.
I just can't take much from that game though. Both defenses looked like they were playing at about half speed. JT O Sullivan looked like Joe Montana back there. The defenses definitely didn't take the game as seriously as Seattle did.
I'm just ready for preseason to be over with. All these glorified practices are such a waste. We're almost there!PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
You wanna talk about him going back into the endzone and getting clipped for a safety instead? lol
Signing him to that big contract was a big mistake and I'll be one of many saying I told you so all year my friend. Something else I've said is as good as Hester is, the other 10 guys on the field have to be pretty good too to produce like he has. I think the other guys they're putting out there showed that too... when they held onto the ball. Overall, I think him trying to become a WR will hurt his return game and they can't afford to not make him a WR with the money he's getting... and I don't see him being a good one... haven't seen anything to prove me wrong.Comment

Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
all of my posts about Hester were in a thread about Hester in response to other posts... what you gotta say about 3Kings who pops his head up whenever anyone says anything against him? Be fair.
By the way, I actually have absolutely nothing against Hester and wish him well. He's already the greatest returner in history. My comment only came out for the ying (3kings) to my yang.Comment

Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
this is the first time since 2000, that I am actually not optomistic at all going into a Bears season. In 2000 I was only like 16 or 17 too, so that was pretty much when I began to follow the bears close enough to make predictions about the team.Comment

Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
A few things:
1) This is what we're going to get when you put Rex at QB. Teams will stack the box and blitz the **** out of him. Which will cause him to do squat.
2) Our offensive line might be worse than last year.
3) You cannot put Devin Hester at wide receiver. He is just not a wideout. He is a home run hitting kick returner. PERIOD. I don't care how much money they paid him. Lovie is going to get him killed.
4) Speaking of Lovie.....he is a ****ing idiot.
5) Orton looks a lot better than Rex.
6) Ron Turner needs to get his head out of his ***. I swear, if he calls one more play up the gut like we have the '92 Cowboys offensive line, I might choke somebody.
7) I feel bad for the defense this year. AGAIN.
First off.... As for your rant about Devin Hester being a wide out... all I have to say to you is Steve Smith. Lovie Smith is pure genius as a head coach, his fault lies in the fact the 1. Jerry Angelo has to have his say on everything and 2. that Ron Turner is the OC. As for the line, they're young and they're missing our first round draft pick. Fred Miller was a POS player who had to be helped 80% of the time last year. Ruban Brown was way past his playing day. (hence why neither are on other teams) Chris Williams is a blocking machine and when he's healthy the left side of the line will get a huge pick up, moving St. Clair to guard (from playing tackle all year) will be a huge plus. O lines don't get good over night.Last edited by Football_guru91; 08-24-2008, 04:09 AM.Let them hate so long as they fear.Comment

I believe that it was called for a touchback and not a safety.
I still don't get why people can't understand the foundation for his contract. From not just a football perspective, but from a marketing and economical standpoint, it makes all the sense in the world. I know how Bears fans can get. If Angelo doesn't have Hester in a Bears uniform, fans will go postal. Period.
Whether or not his contract is too much, is basically irrelevant to us.
I personally would rather overpay our best offensive weapon right now and have him on our squad, than have him balling for another team because we the Bears usually like to be frugal with their dollars.
And LOL @ Jistic. Grain of salt huh? Just throw a fellow Bears fan under the bus. Thanks man.
I know you would rather take Hester's money and give it to Grossman.

Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
If you think Hester is Steve Smith you're seriously dreaming. They drafted him as a returner and have been just trying to find a position for him ever since. Remember he started as a DB? Not to mention it's not like we haven't seen him play. He looks like Steve Smith to you on the field?First off.... As for your rant about Devin Hester being a wide out... all I have to say to you is Steve Smith. Lovie Smith is pure genius as a head coach, his fault lies in the fact the 1. 3kings, that's just not how you get a winning football team my friend.Comment

Re: 2008 Chicago Bears Den
I think Hanie played well enough to earn a roster spot or at least a practice squad spot, he could develop into at quality backup. As much as I don't want to see Bazuin and Bradley cut cause that's just more wasted draft picks, I think they will both be gone. Though maybe Bradley will be given one last year to prove he's worth keeping around.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
