Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Review
There are about five--defense view, press box, cinematic, broadcast, some others.
They need to improve this next year. There is no "coach on the sidelines" view, which seems bizarre in a COACHING GAME. And the press box view is like watching from outer space.
The ability to quickly flip through views during the game.... that's a major winner, keep that in please!
Trust me, it was horrible. You could never see what was going on at any point.Comment

Coach cam would be tough...it'd be hard to see all the players all the time.GO 'HAWKS!

That's like the guy in the Madden thread who boasted that no one "labbed" Madden more than he did.Comment

The beauty of it, imho. I used that view in the previous Head Coach (for as long as I could stomach it). There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

there are those of us who prefer a challenge. calling the shots and practicing. seeing it how pays off. this is true franchise game not an arcade game.Comment

by josh: When we started development, we put in the coaching from the sidelines cam.

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Review
My two cents: Now that I've finally got NFL Head Coach 09 (after three weeks of travel) and played a couple of hours, I am pretty disappointed.
I love coach/manager games, I've played "Anstoss 3" (a soccer coach/manager sim from Germany, brilliant!) over and over and over again, and I even played "Baseball Mogul", despite the fact that it is more of a stats machine, not a game (some people on this board who are more into simulating stats than playing games may want to check that out). So I thought a good football coaching sim must be IT!
Everybody was writing about how great and addicitive NFL Head Coach was... so I put the CD in my PS 3, wahoo, here we go!
And what is this game about? "Oh, there's a new free agent... nah, I won't bid on him... okay... waiting... oh, another free agent... Where the heck can I check this player's player card? There's a ridiculous trading offer... Who is this guy, anyways? I can't even take a look at his player card. Alright... what are we working on in practice today? Uhm... let's boost this play right here. Okay. So... oh, something new on the clip board! Nah, I won't bid on this free agent either... Let's check out the other parts of the menu... Hmmm, let's take a look at the depth chart... or check out the "Player Status" screen... Oh, game day!"
That's supposed to be fun and addictive? I'll give this game some more time, but it's close to cutting day."Ich werd mir jetzt einen Freund suchen, aber nicht so einen lasziven Publizistikstudenten, so an Owizahra, der den ganzen Tag nix tut, Fußball schaut und Bier sauft."Comment

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Review
But there's no way to check a player (trade and FA) after clicking on him on the clip board, right? I hit the button a couple of times and was left wondering if it was worth bidding on him or not.
It's not bad for a start, but basically this game is just about sitting in front of the clip board and waiting for some decisions to make. Click, click, game day, click click, free agency click click practice. There's no life to it so far... maybe I'll have to give it some time.
I played Madden for five minutes, by the way."Ich werd mir jetzt einen Freund suchen, aber nicht so einen lasziven Publizistikstudenten, so an Owizahra, der den ganzen Tag nix tut, Fußball schaut und Bier sauft."Comment

I LOVE THIS GAME! I play with SF too and mostly let Martz call all of the plays...when I did this when the philosopy was "spread", Smith would throw the ball about 30-40 times a game...sometimes 50. You would have to expect that if you throw the ball that many times your going to get quite a few 300 yard games. Once I changed the philosophy to power running...Martz called Gore's number much more. Loved the review...but you didnt comment on bidding for coaches and having to give up control over certain aspects of your team like Firing control, player philosopies, roadmaps, etc...Comment

This isn't like Madden where you're going to see everything there is to see in one week of play...Play through a season and an off-season and see if you still feel the same way...

this game is so much more alive than madden. its so much deeper there is no arcade feel and this game provides IMO so much more of a challenge.Comment

How about actually PLAYING the game? That means being an ACTIVE coach, trying to IMPROVE his team. Which can keep you VERY busy.
You seem to be missing about 90 PERCENT of what this game is about.[Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment
