Your reasoning is understandable. But have you ever had to come into a company (or job) and had to turn it around, because the "boss" before you screwed it up so bad. Although that's your job, and that's what you were hired to do, it isn't a fun thing to do.

Ian does deserve some thanks here for trying to turn Madden around into more of a game where the community is involved in it's development. Not just a game where the developers call all the shots on what "they" want to be included in next years game. He is getting feedback from us, on what we want, and he has to be comended for that.

      I agree 100%.

Look, now that the game is out, EA doesn't have to fix a thing if it doesn't want to. But Ian and the team are. That tells you that, despite what some may think, he is committed to creating a quality product.

And let the record show, I haven't had a single freeze or crash, and may not have realized it is as "big" an issue as it is.

Awesome, this year is going to be the year Madden gains it's respect back. You guys are right on a lot of issues and fixing them already. Any idea when the 53 man roster update will be out?

Also, a question. I was playing a friend online and we were in private chat. I used the direct snap glitch on him for one play to see his reaction (quite funny btw) and have never used it again online. Will my entire record be erased because of this? The guy I played against was Republican18 and I have more games against him so he's just not some random quick match guy I cheated or something.

        Good stuff.

My friend why are you so bitter! Either way the fix is there. Every company releases patches for things that were right before release.

I don't see why they should banged on, as if they are the only company that does it.

Fact is its getting fixed. Please just be happy!

Smile, nothing on this list made the game unplayable, but it did show errors in the system. Either way I hope it just improves what is already good. And what was wrong as well.

Thanks IAN and who ever else helped with the fixes.

If this s a sign of things to come, NHL'ers (myself included) may finally see the day where online hockey will not be some mysterious sport no one has ever heard of. However, Madden IS their #1 product so I still have my doubts if NHL will see the same attention. The way I see it, $60 is $60. Time will tell.
This is not the first time ea has patched madden or other ea sports titles but hopefully next year we will get a better madden out of the box.

Well dang this is awesome news! I can't wait for this second patch. I really wanted to start my dynasty this week with the NFL season but I'm just gonna wait for the patch even though I know I wouldn't have to restart my dynasty. This honestly is the best next gen madden they've made thus far. I liked it out of the box so this game will just get better because of the patch and hopefully the dlc patch.

Anyone who says, "they don't have to fix anything, and they get no incentive for fixing something", that's exactly right, agree 100%.

Although I will admit, when they do this, in my mind I am thinking, "well next year if there's any issues they will be fixed so why not by Madden day 1".

not sure if this has been mentioned but one thing I have noticed is that when you edit a player, the players background information like when they got drafted and what not goes away. I know this is not a big deal but it's something I have noticed ever since next generation gaming has started.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think for $60 or $80 a game sold be free of major errors out of the box. Maybe once every few years something might slip through, but not on an annual basis.

Anyone out there know with this patch #2 i see that when you edit the players they will actually progress, which is good and a great patch even tho this happened on 08 also, but another problem when you edit a player is that their info becomes messed up, where it usually says EX. Drafted Round 1 (17th overall), it then just says N/A.......which this was another problem ALSO in 08 and was actually patched last year, although i guess they forgot abut there mess up and patch when 09 came around, but is this patch #2 also fixing this issue? Kinda annoying when after 3-5 years of playing a franchise ALL your players and rookies say N/A cause ya dont like to see your MLB's as #1 or #2

                        I agree.

Not saying it should be flawless, but the obvious stuff that should be caught in testing like...regression/progression, CPU running out of bounds etc...

Re: Two Weeks of Madden 09, and Official Patch News!

Someone brought up a good point about the patching on the EA forums. The point is that when they are working on the patches for 09 they are also working on 10. It isn't like they are going to release 2010 with these bugs because they spent the time on 09, it will the same basic game with whatever new changes they implement next year. Now I supppose it is possible they may completely redo progression/regression and player stats. But I think it is much more likely they will tweak what they have already (like just fix QB comp %), which could easily be used to patch 09.

So, bottom line is these changes aren't just making 09 better, they are making 2010. But it is nice to get a taste of some of the improvement earlier then next year. I guess if this patch fixes the potential (I haven't had the problem but a lot of reliable people have posted about, like TJ the mod) franchise freezing, the other freezing issues and everything else they mentioned I will be pretty happy for this year.

man I am glad EA can fix all this stuff but what are the PS3ers supposed to play?

                            Madden-waiting for patch
                            NCAA-waiting for patch
                            Head Coach-waiting for patch

WTF? I think EA should hire better testers

yeah, yeah, yeah, "it should've been fixed out of the box". Well, no one told you to run out and buy it at launch without waiting for impressions to see how the game played. EA could just do what they normally do and give us all the middle finger and tell us it'll be fixed next year. Instead, they interact with the boards this year and take our suggestions under advisement and work hard to implement these wishes through a patch/DLC and they still are being thrown under the bus. This game could've shipped with all the patch fixes and most of you still would've found something to gripe about. Please, please, please, wait a few weeks before you buy 2010 since $60 seems to set so many back.
