Cool, I have never played a game online but I can understand how that could get annoying after a while.

pretty good review. still like nhl 09 gameplay over 2k for authenticity but 2k overall really put the fun back into playing hockey

Couldn't have said it better. Mission accomplished, I guess.

Good review. Also, to have full control in your passes. Go the menu where you can change the shot to manual and you can change pass assist too. I set it to 0 and now I have full range where to pass it.

Nice review. Too bad about the lack of FA and re-signing during the season. Does anyone know if there is CPU v CPU or an opportunity to let a game go to a certain point then jump in vs the CPU?

as for not being able to re-sign players in the season....according to the CBA, you cannot do this until after Jan 1 of the year the contract expires.....so maybe thats why

That's true. Teams do re-sign their players but the new contracts only kick in after the end of the previous contract, which would be a bitch to program I'm sure.

                  That's great news.

Decent review! I have a couple friends who aren't hardcore hockey video game fans, so this title may be more fun for them.

A very fair and objective review. I think the goalies in this game don't get the praise they should in reviews, especially when compared to NHL 09. It's 2k's "human" goalies that really make goal scoring satisfying and varied. I am surprised that the review fails to mention the issue with the cpu's offensive ai tendency to drive to the net without regard to the defense in front of it. Overall, I think a lot of details were left out of this review that should have been included such as the new skill moves.

I thought the review was spot on.

I bought both games, as I usually do.. liked them both and then settled on NHL 09.. or at least I did for about a month, but after many games, it just feels like 08 to me and I just can't get excited playing it as much as I did last year. They made some great strides, but something about 2k9 is bringing me back again.

For me it is when I score a goal. It just feel amazing. Especially when the Sharks music plays and the crowd goes nuts. I swear it is like I am really there at the Tank.

I know what you mean.. and playing against the Sharks.. it really feels like I'm hopeless out there sometimes.

Yeah they are good. I love this game still. Sure it has its issues, but to me it is pretty realistic.

Yep.. now all I'm waiting on is a roster update from 2k!
