I absolutely LOVE the pre-game video addition. Wow. Terrific presentation.

Another thing I noticed: I watched the Celtics/Lakers gameplay video first, and I noticed drastic difference in the game speed between that game and this Suns/Nuggets game.... that's beautiful. That's exactly how it should be. The Suns and Nuggets are certainly going to play at a faster tempo than the Celtics and Lakers, so I was very happy to visually grasp that right off the bat.

The sound in this game is second to none in any sports game. I was making music and I ended up watching this vid with headphones, and you can literally hear the ball bouncing off the floor each time a dribble was made; you could hear the hands making contact with the ball, rather it's a block or someone catching a pass. You could hear Denver suck the life out of the arena momentarily with an alley oop. It sounds incredible. The thing that I didn't like is the moves not being fluid and chaining together, the ball movement was great until that sequence with Stat and Shaq, but I will keep in mind that this was CPU V.S CPU, but still the best gameplay vid I seen of this game.

I wish we knew what difficulty it was on.

The nuggs/suns game was at speed 50 and the Lakers/C's was set at 40..thats why you noticed such a drastic difference in gameplay

You guys are sooooo funny....this game is blazin!!!
Iverson's crossover is killer......the introduction to the game is crazy........we are getting a game for the ages....and in the phoenix game the crowd didn't sit down until the suns scored their first bucket...little things like that will hae me glued to the tv for months to come.....the nit picking about pointless issues that mean very little is so unnecessary....dudes like me watch and read alot of you guys say things that just do not make any sense..sometimes. I don't post on sites as you can see but I surf alot, I tell ya if it was left up to some of you guys..people would never buy games....can't we talk about significant matters instead of things like the crowd animations that wont affect us either way... about playin the game? Talk about issues that will help improve the game from a sensable perspective...!

moderators...can I just ask that you not let so many post be started that just take up space? at least let an argument be worthy of a response! most of these threads say the say things over and over and over...to me that is just a waste of time. Let a new thread atleast say something new...anybody feel me?

THE BAD: As far as the computer controlled teams, I wish they would play a bit more like their NBA counterparts. The Nuggets almost had a shot clock violation in their first possession (lol, when was last time that happened!), and I didn't feel like Nash handled the ball or dictated the offense as much as he does for the Suns. Can't recall if there was even a single pick n' roll?!? Aside from many of the questionable pass angles, etc.; I also saw a potential "annoying" animation...didn't note the time (Nugs 2nd possession, I think), but I saw Nene with the ball right under the basket, do a jab step from the triple threat. Hard to describe it exactly, but it looked awkward happening at that spot on the court. Probably should have been a post animation or something different.


THE GOOD: Love the additions to the overall atmosphere. We've been screaming for this in general for all sports game and I feel a sincere effort was made by 2K to listen and to certain suggestions. I thought the end of quarter montage was the coolest thing I had ever seen!!! That was an improvement of "Momemtus" proportions! I could tell signature animations have been expanded, and I liked how through animations, every player on the court really had their own identity! Eager to see additional footage, or play the demo.

Oh yeah, and hearing Kellogg kind of made me depressed knowing there is no C Hoops 2K9 around the corner.....@#%@@#%&&@&!

I agree with you for most parts.. Can't blame people striving for perfection.. But we must not forget that gaming is about having a fun experience, at least for me it is... And 2K9 has a lot going for them... Really love all the details.. atmosphere, the crowd, the intro it's great... But constructive criticism on the other hand is never a bad thing..

Now this is the meat and potatoes I was waiting on.

I'm shocked most of you didn't see the improvements off the bat: AI doing his patented crossover into a jumper, Shaq playing like... well, SHAQ... Amare and Nash working well together and Anthony working for his shot.

All in all, the stars are playing more like stars this year.

I did see some animation jerks and wonder why that wasn't cleaned up.

Either way... the teams were definitely playing with "authenticity" and that's what I like to see.

yep. i know mike isnt with the suns anymore, but I was wondering, when will i see a fastbreak? and what do you know. it comes just a few minutes into the game.

regarding pick and rolls. 1:20 into the game carmelo gets a pick from Kenyon. carmelo doesnt really use it to his advantage but does pass to the cutting Kenyon..

immediately after the miss you see that stupid pass by amare that hits the opponent.. are yall seeing only what you want to see? I see both extreme good and terribly bad sequences in here.

@ 1:33 you have a contextual animation where NENE "knows" where he is and knows he has to fadeaway to get a shot off because hes too close to the basket. do we take those moves for granted??

@1:45, theres a CPU HELPSIDE block by NENE. Shaq left his teammate stranded by getting that double team

@2:00 you have a Kenyon Martin high pick being set, maybe a false pick because it got amare out of the paint, and that ensued with the melo alley oop. set play??? Even in that sequence, you have shaq coming over and trying to block that alley?

@2:16 amare sets a pick for nash. again the cpu doesnt use this. amare gets switched up with anthony carter guarding him. amare is trying to get the ball. the nuggets realize these and before the post pass comes, Martin switches back up. amare still scores.. But in that sequence, you have a steve nash hookshot pass... so steve nash right there.

@2:40, cpu shaq is responsive in the paint to the pass coming his way. Nene scores. that REACTIVEness is critical and im seeing a ton of that.

@2:50, basic postup iso it seems for Amare. everyone is spaced out to let him do his work

@3:05, look at kmart setting a pick for anthony carter in the paint. Nash is responsive to that pick and is slow to recover. kmart eventually gets the ball back. ANother set play no doubt.

@3:20 you have raja bell running baseline trying to get open. great movements

@3:55, shaq is again responsive on the helpside/doubleteam block as melo drives and shoots.. BLOCK!

THAT defense leads to the first fastbreak of the game for the suns.. ran flawlessly

@4:15, kmart runs to the basket when AI pulls up on that jumper. The shot, which we take for granted with 2k, doesnt just swish in. The shot is short, the commentators note that, and it bounces in.

@4:20, the one bad note of the night. shaq and amare playing catch...

@4:30, melo is spinning and "freestyling"lol his way trying to get something. then passes out to the open AI right behind him creating that "screen" with his body.

That ensuses with phx quick outlet passes. no fastbreak pts though. they bring it back out and reset. Nash eventually gets the ball back in his hands.

@4:50 was that a shaq iso post play?? everyone standing around letting shaq and his one opponent going at it. shaq dunk. AMare doesnt leave the paint and is close to the defensive 3 seconds. but hes far enough away to not being able to help guard shaq.

@5:03, probably my favorite set play.. NENE sets a screen for Carter .. Carter gets the pass. AMare tries to go for the steal. leaving Kmart open for the jumper. THEY MAKE IT.. fast acting effective AI.

@5:18 hill and amare pick and ROLL. a pick and roll that actually gets passed to the picker.. the shot goes up and rolls around a bit. soft touch. goes in.

@6:05, you have nash and amare doing alittle two man game. Amre gets caught under the basket and has to fadeaway. Martin who was originially switched on who he was guarding, comes in with the helpside and gets some ball it appears. block.

Ill be enjoying the hhhhhhhhhell out of this game. what will you guys be doing??

I'm very disappointed that they used actual video for intros. That means that if Amare gets traded to somewhere else, whenever I play the suns, they'll still talk about him as the heavy guy and show the video.

Also, the commentary is just as disappointing as last year. Kevin Harlan has next to no new comments, and this other guy is just like Kenny Smith with a different voice. I do like the addition of Cheryl Miller though.

1: I don't know if I said it earlier in this thread or somewhere else but that whole possession was totally realistic, from the way he dribbled to the decisions he made. That was crazy.

2: That fist pump after was great too, it didn't even look canned.

3: A.I.'s crossover is definitely fixed this year last year it was overpowered to the point it was actually useless and you were better off stutter stepping and spinning.

4: K-Mart's face in the close up after for some reason made me literally lol. I wish I had an HD so I'd be getting these graphics, hopefully the SD version is keeping up with all the upgrades.
