A big 'Thank you' from me as well, Steve. I'm a bit PO'ed that there are no stat overlays whatsoever. Ah, well. At least there're so many other great things in the game to keep me happy

In regards to not seeing any overlays, here is what a Dev. responded with during the 2ksports.com QA that was posted a few weeks ago.


10.) Where there be accumulated stats (like NFL 2K5) where your stats follow you and the presentation display current game stats, career stats, playoff stats...etc?

A.) "Statistical overlays have returned to NBA 2K9 after a brief hiatus. These overlays will display at opportune times (free throws, dead balls, etc.) and will provide information such as game points, career average, etc."

Hopefully, the TV style overlays are in the final build.

This was in 2k8 last year. What DC is talking about is the fact that College Hoops had Primary and Secondary defenders for instances Bowen isn't in the game.

And I think 2k7 had that too, and 2k6, and I'm sure 2k5 and below.

I'm kinda confused now lol. From what I understood, Bowen would be able to guard Kobe the whole game even if Kobe slides in the 3. That way, your second string SF won't guard LA's second string SF... At least that's what I understood from reading since Steve will not say that "this is something people will be happy about" if that said feature is already in the 2k's and belows.

I think its like that in 2k8 right now, but thats not the real issue. The problem was if Kobe went to the bench, it would reset when he came back (Bowen back to guarding Odom).

I think its like that in 2k8 right now, but thats not the real issue. The problem was if Kobe went to the bench, it would reset when he came back (Bowen back to guarding Odom).

For me it works by position (when I play as the Cavs against the Lakers online I put LeBron on Kobe, but some people are smart enough to move Kobe to SF then to guard LeBron and if I'm not paying attention get guarded by Boobie Gibson or something.

But sometimes the switching in-game doesn't make sense, I make the adjustments and hit X (PS3) then get out of it and they reset after that possession.

It would be nice if the assignments started being player based, for a week or two I would shuffle Gay all over the floor from the 2 to the 4 from quarter to quarter (2-3-4-2) just to take advantage of different matchups that would result from guys adjusting their matchups and having guys defending out of position. It'd be nice if that sort of strategy were replaced with more complex player specific matchups.

those that played choops you would know what they are talking. you can assign bowen to play kobe, no matter what position bowen would guard him, so no longer do u have to worry about cheesers trying to get a mismatch by keep swithing kobe to different positions, bowen will follow.
