TNA Impact 2: Keys to Success

TNA Impact had more failures than success it's first time out of the gates. However, the foundation has been laid for a potentially good wrestling game. What does any potential sequel to TNA Impact have to do to surpass the competition on the market? Check out Richard Chavez's take in his article, TNA Impact 2: Keys to Success.

"It has been a one horse town for over seven years when it comes to wrestling video games. WWE and Yukes have had a chokehold on the competition since WCW was bought out in 2001. But, Midway has put a stop to this tyranny with the release of TNA Impact. TNA Impact marks the first real virtual competition for the WWE since Goldberg was undefeated."

I don't plan on ever getting Impact because the developers themselves admitted that they have shortchanged this version

Pretty obvious what they need to improve on and you just stated the obvious unfortunately.

They need to be on par with Smackdown on the features level but at the same time have a good wrestling system on the level of AKI games and Fire Pro

Go back to work midway. I'm giving you another chance. I have read that they are in a financial dip**** though if this and their holiday offerings don't sell

Every wrestling game on the current platforms has been awful, and for me, the fun died with WWF No Mercy (N64) and probably around SmackDown! 5 (PS2). Now, as far as features, it's difficult for a series to come out swinging, especially with how long Midway spent working on this version. Is the framework there? Somewhat. I'd say gameplay needs to be bolstered and features added concurrently. Customization, though, is always essential.

i liked the game for a while but after bubba ray pulling off a hurricanrana i said see ya!!

the game needs to change, the wrestlers need to be done the way they are and not all having the same move set.

How long has Smackdown been around? Give Midway that amount of time that Smackdown has been around. We will see a much better out come.

As long as the story mode is not being book by anyone in TNA.

12 years to make a good game?

SD has pretty much been around since '96, and the first version (Touken Retsuden; Power Move Pro Wrestling here) was awesome.

God.. I didn't think it has been that long. I wish No Mercy's style of game was still in production.

What I would like to see for the sequel is more move to choose from. I would also like to have the option to preview moves. I would also like to be able to customize ring entrances and preview them as well. As the article stated customization is the biggest thing that needs to be improved. I like the controls but there needs to be more moves making wrestlers standout from one another. A perfect example is the fact that Angle does not have the ankle lock and Sting does not have the Scorpion Death Lock.

I have been enjoying the game but it leaves me wanting more. I am holding out hope that the sequel will improve on the original. The game has potential to be good with some work.

Look lets be serious tna impact the first game sucked but here are ways to improve it:

                  1. Whether you like it or not this game needs the TNA Knockouts like ODB, Awesome kong, angelina love, and Tara are just a few what this game needs.
                  2. Lets be real when i played the first game everybody had the same moveset that has to be changed kurt angle does not have the same haves as jay lethal i mean come on besides the finishers they have the same move example give kurt angle the belly to belly suplex, german suplex, mat slam, moves that kurt angle uses make his moveset diverse from everyone elses.
                  3. I aint going to lie SVR 2010 is going to be big but TNA Impact needs to steal one of their features which is Design Your own Storyline which would be sweet 4 TNA because make the matches and the scenes.
                  4. RTS Road To Slammaversery Yes do it like svr 2010 only bigger have 6 superstars with storylines Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Sting, Bobby Lashley, Mick Foley, and Samoe joe and also a tag team storyline with Beer Money or LAX

I hope tna can use this piece of advice they definitely would step thier game and alternate attires wouldnt hurt thnx

Agreed SD vs Raw 10 was no better this year. More glitches in svr 10 then in 09. Yukes brought the game out way to soon because they was afraid of MW2 big release. So they brought it out 3 weeks to early and never fully test it. Well crap they never did it in the past. So why start now. Yukes is just a lazy company that juist want to add more problems on top of problems simple fact.

This kind of sucks about Southpeak taking reigns of Impact 2 as its only PSP and DS. I guess they can screw things up big time on there and nobody would make a huge ruckus as if it were on the main consoles.
