Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
Thats the exact reason, if it wasnt for a limit on how many patches can be released per game then developers can easily release games half done so they can release multiple patches later to fix things, and thats not a good thing.Comment

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
Haha, yep. I started my Bears franchise over with the release of the patch and the first game was against the Colts. I felt like taking naps between plays. I will not make that mistake again. If I have to play them in the future I am simming the game unless it is Super Bowl when I play them.Comment

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
yes. Fringe players decrease without playing time, rookies and young players increase much better...Gosder Cherilus for example went from a 72 to a 79. Haven't seen old qbs and such decline too much yet, though.Comment

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
I suppose so but Im talking about companies going to the extreme and releasing completely half finished products knowing they can patch it later. EA didnt use to release much in the way of patches at all so I guess we have taken a step forward currently, now we just need the initial product to step up and we would be better off.Comment

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
Played one game post-patch so far. Overall, I liked what I saw. Of course, I thought the game was pretty good, pre-patch. The CPU completion percentage was right at 50%, and they did attempt to run the ball, just not with much success.
I did notice more broken tackles by the CPU (I'm using Heel's sliders with some modifcations) and did notice my passing % went down as well, and I threw more INT's, which were my fault, not b/c of unrealistic play.
I won 12-7 on a hail mary to Plax from Eli. Plax got upended at the 1, but fell into the end zone - thankfully. I was so excited from completing the Hail Mary that I totally botched the extra point.
I had 2 sacks, forced 2 fumbles (recovered 1) and the CPU sacked me 3 times. I think each team had 4 penalites called. For me it was 3 holding, 1 clip and the CPU had 2 defensive pass interference calls, a clip and facemask.
One thing that did bug me was Wash. was up 7-6 with under 2 min. to go and had the ball after I threw an INT. Instead of running the ball and making me take all my timeouts, and potentially ending the game by running for a first down, they ran on 1st, then passed on 2nd and 3rd. Both incomplete. Now, I still had to complete a 57-yard hail mary to win, but, who knows if they had run the ball if I would've even gotten the ball back.
It looks like the patch addressed most of the issues it was supposed to. But, after playing NCAA, I feel like that game, post-patches, is more complete than Madden. I still like Madden, but NCAA is just more fun.Currently Playing:

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
HMMMM i guess if nothing else, its worth a try.......Thanks for the ideaTry this. I remember last year this happened to me ALL the time. Every game. I'd be so damn pissed I couldn't see straight.
I'd play an entire game only to have it freeze at the replay box.
Then at halftime, I started to WATCH a few replays(b/c the box pops up there as well) of the first half. Not all five, just two or three. Takes but thirty seconds.
After the game...NO freezes. I was shocked, and I never had another freeze after that.
So give it a try. Watch a few of the highlights at halftime. Like actually open it up so it fills the entire screen. Then flip to another one of the five and do the same. I always made sure I watched three.
EDIT: It seemed to work......so, for the time being, I can play franchise games......Yhanks Spyder.....im keeping my fingers crossed that this works every timeComment

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
I admit to not reading this entire thread, but I've gotta say it - the graphics look better since Patch 2.
Specifically, lighting is a whole lot better. I played at 4:15 game in Tampa Bay and the sunlight, coming across the field and throwing long player shadows, looked really cool.
Props to the Art Director. I don't recall getting this impression when playing the game previously, so I'm guessing something was tweaked to bring out his team's vision. Looks great.
I hope in Madden 2010 they continue to push for great lighting. Some HDR and blooming effects could be sweet...and the hardware this generation can definitely handle it.

Re: Madden 09 Patch #2 Released, Impressions Here
I've never had so much grief in my life over a video game. I'd be ripping my hair out if I had some. Instead, I kicked my TV in. Don't tell me I need anger management because I've showed incredible patience with this game. Whatever that word is... where companies purposely create a poor product in order to maintain business... EA's guilty of it here.
There's no way to fix this game until CPU sliders come out. No matter what you do... what slider set you use... your CPU cohorts are as big an idiot as the mentally deficient kids that ride the short bus. And I'd be willing to bet that EA's marketing "geniuses" will release DLC as a purchase, instead of a rightful fix to a busted game.
You can gussy up the graphics... make the CPU running game tolerable... but you can't do anything about the CPU QB behaving as if there's actually someone in his face and capable of error? Give me a damn break. A game plan is useless if the CPU can just toss on you and it not matter what you do.
This is just incredible. Madden '09 has been one giant debacle after another, I think. Personally, I think it's just one massive act of collusion and monopoly, but hey... it doesn't matter what I think.Comment

I'd watch out about saying bad things about EA. That will get you reprimanded on here, even if every word of it is true. They don't mind trashing 2K though, so I'd stick with that.I've never had so much grief in my life over a video game. I'd be ripping my hair out if I had some. Instead, I kicked my TV in. Playing Madden for what it is, not what it used to be.
If you continue seeking a Madden game with all of the options it had on XBox, you will be disappointed. If you accept that the next-gen version of Madden is a downgrade in every area except graphics, then you will find a true gaming experience.Comment
