What are some shortcomings in your opinion?

Never thought you were and idiot, i just wanted to know the perspective from which you were playing.

1-Casual sunday fan who watches a game from time to time
2-Birthday party? Sunday? Honey are you nuts?

My shortcomings?

*Presentation
*Franchise mode (still extemely bare-bones)
*lack of "working" fatigue. Fatigue is there but it is horribly implemented
*OL/DL interaction
*Warping
*CPU Roster logic(been messed up for years)
*Suction blocking
*Simmed stats are still messed up in some cases(QB completion percentages)
*Lack of refs and chain gang
*Was penalties until the patch
*CPU end of game logic.(doesn't always rear its ugly head but does more often than not)

As for which type of fan I am. I have bought Sunday Ticket for about 4 years now(thats as long as I've owned DirecTV). I watch football pratically all day on Sundays. I do take breaks to play Madden.

Now the inevitable question that someone is going to ask is how can I enjoy the game despite having this many "issues" with it? Well, as I stated before, I can look past these issues and still find enjoyment. Some people can't and I understand and respect that. So please understand and respect that I can.

I gotta ask, why are you so interested in what he enjoys or doesnt enjoy about the game? Are you so bored now that you want to play 20 questions with people to try and get vindication for your POV on Madden? He doesnt make the game and has zero influence over it so let the man enjoy the game and move on already, its starting to sound like you are on some never ending attempt to bait him into either an argument or a pointless debate.

EDIT- Kudos to you CB for even answering because Ive seen the constant questions thrown your way since the game was released, the accusations that your some EA homer etc and I really dont know how you put up with it sometimes. At some point, do you just throw your hands up and walk away? I would have done that a long time ago so my hats off to you.

EDIT- Kudos to you CB for even answering because Ive seen the constant questions thrown your way since the game was released, the accusations that your some EA homer etc and I really dont know how you put up with it sometimes. At some point, do you just throw your hands up and walk away? I would have done that a long time ago so my hats off to you.

There are times its frustrating, but at the end of the day, I'm the one happy and enjoying the game. Whether people can understand or respect that is on them. All I can do is post about my opinion the same way that those who don't like the game post about their opinions.

has anyone heard from Phil or Ian? They have been pretty quiet since the patch#2 release. I really don't know if they are working hard on trying to fix the continuing freezing issues, or if they are hiding until the smoke clears..

An update from one of them would be nice.

I've seen Phil log in from time to time. I'm sure they are reading things.

Let's not forget one of Ian's last post he has a torn calf muscle and his computer from home was being fixed.

I wouldn't read too much into the smoke clearing theory.

I guess now would be a bad time to post that I am enjoying the game and the franchise mode.

good to hear! btw your posts are what made me get the game 2 days ago. I downloaded the patch and I have been enjoying it tremendously even with its shortcomings. I plan to start my franchise this weekend and hope there will be no freezes. Until then...having fun with the best Madden in a LONG TIME.

I was wondering if some people would post their sliders they use for their games? I am just curious if people that are having problems with the cpu running and robo qb (which i have yet to fix, just put that slider down to 2 dint play a game yet) cpu running slider i have at 18 and it seems much better good maybe a little high yet.

I am playing Madden '09. I've enjoyed the series since it began many moons ago and in my opinion this game either topples or is close to its predcessors. And yes, I am a football fan and yes I know the difference between the post and flag routes and what the Nickel defense is.

Thank you for assuming that I must be an idiot when it comes to football to enjoy Madden '09. Its greatly appreciated.

I think the problem is that people think that I believe the game is perfect, which couldn't be further from the truth. There are things that I don't enjoy about Madden, that irk me, and things that aren't here that I wish were. The thing is, I don't dwell on these issues. Despite its shortcomings I can still enjoy the game. And despite what many may think, in my opinion the game does a good job of simulating what I see on Sundays. Now maybe that puts me in the minority, but that shouldn't make me an idiot or my opinion wrong.

Every game has its shortcomings. Granted some games have more than others. But what someone has to ask themself is whether despite these "limitations" can I still enjoy the game? For some its yes and for some its no. Neither side is wrong. Its a matter of opinion.

This is true what you write and why i buy madden year after year. Yeah it has flaws in the ai and the cpu doesnt always play the way i'd like it to. It's missing features like certain highlight things and halftime shows and sideline stuff like nfl 2k5. Madden just gives me that feelign of what i actually see when watching games. The plays, the animations, the control. Madden is a good game and I like it and enjoy it and don't get too bent over issues with it. EA has always had this knack of capturing something in sports games that other developers dont necessarily.... 2k games imo are very good as well, and seem to be tighter and more fine tuned as far as teh ai goes. The graphics also tend to be a bit better. nba 2k9 is much more refined than live and a better game, although live looks pretty good this year. Unfortunately Madden is all we have to choose from for football titles. I do think EA has a monopoly. The same can be said pretty much for 2k and nba 2k9 though. They put out the best nba game and pretty much dominate that market right now. I'm not saying it's right or the best case scenario but it is that way unfortunately.

EA does not have a monopoly. They have an exclusive deal, not a monopoly.

QB takes way too long to hike the ball. I really didn't see the problem with that before. Now my friends and I are somewhat forced to increase the quarter length so we don't get only 1 possession each half. Everything else in the patch is fine but I liked the time it took the cpu to hike it much better before. I think it slows down the game and is sort of annoying.
