He's getting owned by the likes of Pedro Feliz and Brett Myers. give me a break. I know it's not the end all be all, it's just kind of sad. you gotta pitch better than this.
what was his excuse last year?
he's still a great great great great pitcher, but him struggling in the postseason is pretty bafflingComment

You think last Sunday wasn't a postseason start? I guarantee you that was more pressure-packed than today's.He's getting owned by the likes of Pedro Feliz and Brett Myers. give me a break. I know it's not the end all be all, it's just kind of sad. you gotta pitch better than this.

Re: National League Divisional Series: Milwaukee v. Philadelphia
By the way, there's a good conversation to be had about teams like Milwaukee renting players like Sabathia for a stretch run with no intention of re-signing them and then pitching them until their arm falls off. Clearly he's a high endurance guy who probably runs very little risk of doing permanent damage to his arm, but it's an interesting situation where a team has basically no concern about any long term effects that could result from overusing a guy as much as they've used Sabathia.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

he's not a postseason choker, but it's just baffling. big time baffling. why he can't pitch well in these games. he laid an egg last year too. what was the excuse then?Comment

He was amped up.
This game is nothing like last year... last year he was perfectly fine in how much rest he had... you can't even compare the two situations... that's how different they are.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: National League Divisional Series: Milwaukee v. Philadelphia
Some claim he was throwing too hard in last year's postseason. He also threw the most innings in MLB last year (as he did this year). All those pitches take a toll, especially when you're facing superior offensive teams (Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies) in the postseason. Is there a psychological element as well? Perhaps. But to me, last Sunday's game erased any doubts about CC's capability to be a "big game pitcher". Today's game is simply a case of going to the well once too often.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: National League Divisional Series: Milwaukee v. Philadelphia
Tough to say, as there aren't many guys around who are durable enough to even BE overused as Sabathia was. To a large degree, given Milwaukee's circumstances, it's tough to fault them too much. But remember the people on this board who thought it was perfectly fine for Yost to throw out Sabathia for the 9th inning with a 7-run lead and throw an additional 20 pitches? I wonder if they still feel this way.By the way, there's a good conversation to be had about teams like Milwaukee renting players like Sabathia for a stretch run with no intention of re-signing them and then pitching them until their arm falls off. Probably, but who comes in, especially with the bullpen having thrown 4 innings yesterday? The Brewers' alternatives (and outlook) are grim.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that.
