with posting up, i discoverd that once u throw the pass in, juss start moving him in with out holding down a button. on PS3 for 2K8 its L2, but for 2K9 its juss simply moving him in with your controller, and i also for someone else who asked i think you have to use the modifiers to use isomotion this year, still tryna figure it out myself -

And I wish I could save the fast break oop I had.
Stole the ball from Rondo with Kobe..***n down the middle of the court, hit Fisher on the wing, come into the middle...Kobe then loops around me to the wing, L2+X later I gotta sweet *** two handed dunk!Comment

Same, I was going to get the Ps3 version because I always think my 360 is about to die, but after playing both the 360 one is noticeably better looking and I'll run the risk of my 360 dying and get it.Comment

You flick the analog stick holding R2 while on the move - it does seem a lot easier to do coming off a screen, but I've gotten really good at giving directional passes to Kobe in the 15 footer area and watching him float beautifully into the air in motion with the pass.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Just dowloaded the demo for 360 this morning, and the graphics are jaw dropping to me anyway. But during gameplay the court looks bad, and maybe due to the demo the only time that logo at center court looks clear as day is at Tip Off other then that it looks blurry as hell, pretty much what the pic above looks like. As for jaggies not much from what ive seen and im playing on A SDTV on widescreen mode. I have to conclude that is for Demo reasons i cannot possibly seeing 2k9 being that moronic to have something that low res be a focal point and make it to the real game. All in all i pre ordered it, im sure everything will play and look much better.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I mentioned this last night and I still can't figure out it. Seems too slow and clunky, I can't get the leaner/off balance shot for some reason, my guys set their feet and take their time every time off a screen."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
AFter you posted this, I jsut went in to make sure I wsn't hallucinating. It might be easiest with Kobe, so start trying this with him:
Get the ball to Fisher, and wait until you see Kobe breaking left or right in a way that gives him open space in that direction if you gave him a directional/lead pass that direction. Give him that pass, and IMMEDIATELY if not slightly before he gets the ball start holding the shot stick in the direction you're trying to fade. When I did this, the instant Kobe got the ball he swiveled and popped into the air to the right in a smooth motion that took a fraction of a second.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
That's what I've been trying to do and he either pump fakes (even though I'm still holding the stick) or the game doesn't even register that I'm holding the shot stick. Also, what if you don't want to fade? If Ray Ray is coming off a curl and has great separation and I just want a real quick, smooth release I press the shot stick towards the hoop and I run into the same issue.AFter you posted this, I jsut went in to make sure I wsn't hallucinating. I'll def give it another whirl though, I'm confident there's a way to do it consistently and I just don't know it yet."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Burnout: Paradise.
Like I said in a post about 20 pages back though, the only difference is that because the 3670 doesn't have a mandatory HD developers develop for that platform first, then port it to the PS3. Because they have a different graphics chip, that means the game is usually optimized for the 360. Not that anyone but graphics whores can tell the difference - I think my PS3 on a 22" SDTV looks just as amazing as my friend's 360 on a 70" Sony with HDMI or my friend's PS3 on a 32" Sony Bravia. I'm just not into this discussion, but as a PS3 owner it's pretty lame that 360 owners feel like this is something to celebrate, like you just won a prize. Wish it was like Sega vs. Nintendo where all the graphics were pretty much equal, and it was just about who beat Aladdin fastest.Last edited by Nodima; 10-03-2008, 10:16 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I have to say I'm pretty dissappointed in the post game, I was hoping for more of an overhaul. This is the one area that 2k has needed to fix since forver, I'd be happy if they just stole college hoops version of the post game! how many times in an NBA game do you see someone dunk from the post? once at the most? how about KG? I watched every second of kg's season last year, his bread and butter is the spot up jumpers and the fade away from the post. he rarely finishes going towards the basket (and if he does, its an array of althetic layups), yet here I am again dunking at will from the post in a 2k game. I'm going to have to edit his ratings down again and change his post moves - and there the same animations from 2k8. I didnt see any new ones for the coverboy except for his free throw routine, of course maybe I just havent seen them yet...but I was hoping for more of a revamp. I will say he looks MUCH better now, body type and face.
but seriously, the fight for the spot before the entry pass should dictate your post postion - I dont think you should be allowed to back in THAT much with the ball unless you have a guard on a mismatch or something. its just not realistic. would make the post game so much funner. not to mention there should be a bigger variety of fakes, and you should have to fake out the defender to get him to think right or left etc before you can do those moves towards the rim. and then the defensive controls should be able to guess right and heavily contest the shot you think hes doing to force him into a bad shot. instead of just random 70% shooting from the post...but forgive me, I digress...back to the demo hehe...
so aside from the post game the gameplay is nice, movement is great now even though they ill occasionaly run into me while im trying to post up hehe. next year its time to start implementing some staggered screens into the mix for your AI teammates, every team does this (without plays called) to free up their shooters. but the AI is 100% better, CPU AI is awesome - you see some great stuff. kobe is a beast!
sliding is 90% better now, you feel the foot planting a little more this year, and the lockon D doenst cause crazy foot sliding all over the place - this makes me extremely happy haha. looks so much more realistic, so you feel like you are playing real defense (defense is fun again!).
fastbreaks are 100% better, 2k has real fast breaks now, and lots of them! gave me times to try out the shot changing...I had rayray wide open on the break did the famous MJ dunk to layup and layed it up into the underside of the backboard hah! and i loved it!
seems to me it still takes time to get off a jumper though, I'll have wide open shots get blocked because the player takes too long to go up for the jumper. it may be quicker than last year Im not sure, as all I played after choops came out was the colelge game which didnt have this issue.
lets just say, once I get my hands on the retail 360 version and mess with the sliders and some attributes, this is gonna play one hell of a game of pro basketball....
oh and please fix the bluriness of the court, thats my association court I am going to se for 41 games! we cant be having that on the WORLD CHAMPION's home court!!!Comment

I really hope cause its the demo as well as the Camera Angle. Have you noticed that the lights dont animate on the court either. Maybe its just one Image for the court on the demo trying to save file size.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
That's the thing i've been saying about making the move and shoot all in the same motion.
After seeing this too much in last years game and CH, thats definitely something that needs to be added. Its just not right to have the player stop completely, square up , set his feet, then proceed to take the jumpshot.. Takes far too longComment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
ive been able to pull the leaner off by driving to one direction and keep the left stick and the right stick to the same direction im driving. just have to figure out the release point. the only problem is that the leaner for everyone is the same, no different animation. KDRE hopefully i get the game today and i am planing on putting out a few game play vids with teams that haven't been shown all that muchThat's the thing i've been saying about making the move and shoot all in the same motion.
