Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I'm loving the Demo, although does someone care to explain the lock-on defense feature to me?
I just got a 360 recently so I was playing 2k7 on the PS2 for a while... Like what does the bar that comes up when I hit lock-on defense mean?
Is lock-on defense (assist-defense, whatever it's called) fully automated or should i still move the control stick around when I have the lock-on defense feature on?
Thanks in advance... As I said before though this demo is sick, I didn't spend much time playing 2k8 but hot damn I can't wait until the 7th...
(Also, I'll look around for an old thread, but can anyone direct me to a link / thread that explains how to do different moves (post and dribbling)?)Comment

You should change your screen name to "Da-Bait"This game is crap. Lame graphics, lame skinny player models, faces are way off, crowd doesnt get excited after a great play, gameplay is cartoony and unrealistic, no sig stuff like free throws and mannerisms, game feels slow and unresponsive......... No wait, thats nba live 09.. sorry my bad.Comment

Lock on with the L-stick. Depending on how close you are when you lock, you'll see the middle bar on the "web" icon show how close you're playing the man. So if you're up in his grill and lock on, you'll be defending him very tight... if you are playing way off your man and lock, it'll play him loose. Anyway, with the R-stick, you can adjust this, so move it closer to the man if you want to play closer on him and vice-versa. You can also choose to shade him to one side or the other by moving the R-stick to the right or left of the man -- all of this is represented on the "web" icon.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Just played a few games in the demo. I had some nice ally-oops. Kobe over Rondo, Pierce over Kobe... lalala.
I'm playing the 360 demo and the jaggies are still noticeable in comparison to some of the PS3 demo vids/pics I've been seeing. Maybe not as many, but it's still there. It's a demo, yeah, but just pointing it out.
Overall, I'm not blown away like some people. I feel the same way as I did with the 2k8 demo last year. It feels new and I just need to adjust. =pComment

Most of the controls are the same, or only slightly adjusted. All of the player movement is different, but I'm not seeing the same large difference in isomotion control as others. Right from the beginning, I've been putting Ray on Sportscenter with Kobe.Comment

I hear ya. I was hoping to play this weekend. I will be on the road for awhile after that.Well no impressions from me, the Xbox Live Requires a Gold Membership to download the demo, and mine just expired a couple of days ago and dont plan on renewing it for a couple of months.
It says wait a couple of days for the demo to be available to the Silver Members.

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I'm loving the no-calls this year. I was D Fish and got bowled over somethin' terrible trying to take a charge (in the key) by Pierce. He made the layup and no whistle blew for either side. All I could think was........Home Cookin', I'm gonna get they *** when they come to the Staples Center" Lol. It was so realistic.
I see some are saying that the game looks "bland". Based on the demo, they got it right this year IMO.
In the past, 2k games were always too saturated. Meaning, uniforms like the Cavs were "too red" instead of "brick red" or the paint in the Nets court was "too blue" instead of dark blue.

Thanks a lot dude, I'll mess around with it as soon as I get out of class and back to my roomLock on with the L-stick. Couldn't agree more. It's very smooth. And IMO the dynamic lighting (Live 09) makes it look fake. It's pretty cool that even in 2k8 some arenas had different lighting i.e. Staples Center's "Lights Out" lighting was very effective.looks great on the 360... very smooth compared to 2k8 IMO. Interestingly the 360 demo is larger 520MB
I was concerned it would be another jaggie texture mess like 2k8 but no, this game looks like a bunch of little NBA players are living in my tv.
the animations, textures, courts, atmosphere, faces and image quality are all improved from 2k8 and the game play... heavenly bro, heavenly
still not as good dynamic lighting as Live 09 but somehow it looks more realistic. I'm guessing it depends on what court you are playing on as well.
Even looking at the demo vids, it looks more realistic than Live.Comment
