If There Is A Patch For NBA 2K9, Then These Things Need To Be In It!

EDIT: Thanks to Pared for assembling this list from all of the issues in this thread. I will update it as more things are added. This way the 2K dev team doesn't have to sift through the whole thread to get this info.

Patch issues that we would like to see fixed:

    **VERY IMPORTANT**

-This layup (now known as the "Ghost Layup"):
The offensive player sometimes starts this layup just inside of the free throw line, and then magically glides through any defenders that are trying to foul him or block his shot. There is no stopping this layup because the game somehow isn't registering the "contact" being made with the offensive player by the defender. Also that layup almost never misses (I'm not sure if I have ever seen it miss actually).
    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vj6PyxZBtV8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vj6PyxZBtV8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

-Shooting %'s must be lowered. Too many contested shots go in even with tight defense. If it's a ratings thing, fix the ratings!

-Shooting tendencies are BROKEN (especially for scoring guards), there are way too many scrubs taking the bulk of the shots that the star players should be getting.

-Pass accuracy. Way too many pinpoint passes by guys. Should be a bit more variety. At default players can run one direction and make a cross court pass with perfect efficiency, regardless of the ratings.

-Edit Prospect appearances. Being able to edit everything else is great. However, we should be able to edit what they look like. This takes away from the overall feel. Also, please do not use retired player faces for these prospects!

-Dribble, hopstep, extra dribble that is not called as a travel. Add to this the walk from a turn around jump shot in the post.

-The CPU scores way too many points off of quick cuts/passes (and in some instances alley-oops) to the basket. This leads to over-inflated points in the paint stats.

Credit: RubenDouglas for this info on the above mentioned problem:

If they themselves aren't getting out of position on basic one on one coverage, its the constant switching of defenders the second they see a guy open. I'd give up an open three to a crappy player but the CPU will switch over leading their unguarded DREW GOODEN to get ball.. great AI.

It causes chaos. Im pretty sure the CPU AI that we're playing against is doing the same thing causing almost zero midrange game.

    Video 1:
Im m. williams playing PG.. I see Delonte come over to cover the guy i was guarding, so i try to run to cover the man he was guarding. but he returns to the man he was guarding and kirk is left open. this leaves ben wallace to run up and contain the three pt line leaving his man wide open in the paint. that defies fundamental basketball. mismatches galore here. Gooden scores on a post move inside on the PG. thanks ben wallace and teammate west

    <embed width="440" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://v4.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=nxknm0&s=4"><br><font size="1"><a href="http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=nxknm0&s=4">Original Video</a> - More videos at <a href="http://tinypic.com">TinyPic</a></font>

    Video 2:
I have decent coverage on kirk this time as I play with Williams PG. Lebron runs out to guard Deng it appears, his designated man. for some reason, lebron is ******** in this game on defense and force ben wallace to go after deng at the three pt line. this leaves the lane open and everyone in a mismatch situation. So west NOW picks up the ball handler leaving HUGHES to a lead pass with a TRAILING BEN WALLACE picking up his 3rd man of the play. why isnt west watching for the cutter?? wallace is doing everything

    <embed width="440" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://v4.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=esvlfn&s=4"><br><font size="1"><a href="http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=esvlfn&s=4">Original Video</a> - More videos at <a href="http://tinypic.com">TinyPic</a></font>
-On-the-fly substitutions. Currently, if you make a change using the d-pad, confirm, then go back in to add to it all your changes are reset. They need to stay until the next whistle.

-An option to force the CPU to substitute by ROTATION and not by fatigue.

-The CPU in general needs to take more mid-range jumpshots.

-After a missed basket by the post player the guard ALWAYS is guarding the post player after that. Mismatch defensive switches happen far too often, e.g. guards checking a PF or Center, or vice versa..

-2k Camera angle framerate is not consistent with others. Also, if that gets fixed, it would be nice if it could be added online.

-lag when shooting the first FT that throws your timing off during online play. This was the SAME exact issue from last year that was patched up and it's back again.

-Clipping between objects (players, hoop, backboard and ball). As it is now, too many things go THROUGH each other, resulting in missed blocks, steals and other aspects of collision detection. At least clean it up a bit!

-On the fly subs show a players position in the FLS column instead of how many fouls they have. Fouls are very important in close games.

-Zone usage slider in coach settings. Seems as if it is broken or not as effective as it should be.

-Defense in the paint needs to be WAY more physical. In general, CPU defenders in the paint need to be more active and strong. There needs to be more bodying up. Too many times a CPU big man will flash to the paint and stand there for a second with a defender guarding him who doesn't lay a body on him. From that point, if he gets the ball, its an easy two points when the shot/layup could have been made way tougher if the defender just put a body on him. I think this is a HUGE issue that hasn't been talked about enough.

-In Association mode use pictures of the created players/rookies face, or NO PICTURE AT ALL. Please get rid of using retired players faces instead the rookie's cyber face. Some peoples Association, in their second season, have multiple pictures of Kerry Kittles, Juwan Howard, and Travis Best on different teams.

-3 second calls seem to take longer than 3 seconds.

-The dribble, hop step, extra dribble that is not called as a travel

    **WOULD BE NICE**

-Orange Circle during replay mode: Get rid of it like last year using the two bumpers (L1 and R1 on PS3)

    - on a charging call, the PA announcer says they are over the limit

    - replays happening at the wrong moments. Derrick Rose could be on the bench, and they will talk about his passing. They will talk about someone scoring a lot of points after they just missed their last 5 shots. Someone will get their shot blocked out of bounds, then they talk about how dominant in the paint they are...just annoys me a little.

    - Framerate issues during FTs, replays/highlights, and the far away camera right before a quarter starts.

-Some elements of some teams courts (ie: ATT sign on the Spurs court, and similair logos on other courts) are blurry beyond sense and reason. It really detracts from what otherwise is a very nice game graphically.

-PA announcer saying the team is in the penalty after charging fouls

And Edit Prospect. Let us edit their appearances. No point of having the "feature" there if we can only edit eyes
    Concrete evidence/videos please

Kinda jumpin the gun a bit.

I found out that when you see the animation kickin in for the morph lay-up (morph-morph), you have to play the ball instead of the player. But, if you don't have a legit shot blocking big to pin it on the glass, oh well, 2 points and play better D next time.

Thing is, most of us asked for this time of game where the CPU makes you pay for bad decisions. Don't reach, quit locking on for more than 2-3 sec thinking that thats how you're gonna get a stop and by all means, watch the play develop.

If the PG is dribbling too much, he's passing time waiting for you to screw up.

problem is... the majority of the time it isnt the USEr making the bad decision... its the users supposed "defensively aware" teammates.

Theres only so much a user can do.

i have yet to see one of my "aware" teamates stand there and take a charge or get involved in a contact animation when the computer goes flying through the air...

There should be way more mid air contact animations when multiple defenders are in the way.

            easily fixed by patch.

Some other things that annoy me:

              - on a charging call, the PA announcer says they are over the limit

              - replays happening at the wrong moments. Derrick Rose could be on the bench, and they will talk about his passing. - the dribble, hopstep, extra dribble that is not called as a travel

I hope these and the online issues are fixed. The high FG percentage can probably be fixed with sliders, but maybe thats something to be looked at as well.

Agreed 100%. You can't control all five players on the court at once....

I've asked for people to post a video of this and they have yet do so.

If you could be so kind, good sir... if you want things fixed in a patch, a video is your best bet.

i have yet to see one of my "aware" teamates stand there and take a charge or get involved in a contact animation when the computer goes flying through the air...

There should be way more mid air contact animations when multiple defenders are in the way.

                    easily fixed by patch.

Well, no one is saying you have to control all players although, if you know you been beat or once the pass actually leaves the passers hand, a quick tap of the A (360) button should get you where you need to be.

We can whine about teammates not being smart enough to help but making plays yourself is rewarding.

Mr. Pared, I will work on getting that to you tonight or tomorrow some time.

It ain't whining dude, it's an issue. I'm not playing a button mashing fighting game, I'm playing a basketball game that should reward skill and good defense over using quick fingers to beat CPU cheese...

Fighting games aren't button mashing. They require a lot more skill than you think.

I just recorded a quick video of what I think you mean, I'll put it on Youtube and edit it in in a second.

I only stated a "quick tap", I didnt state, "Quickly tapping A"...

How can you be rewarded for good D and you are letting the CPU play D for you?

If I can recall, Born made good points on how to play D, seems no one is taking heed to any of them. Of course, the solution is to change sliders but not all people want to.
