So 2K, I ask you, if sexual predators can be archived and branded for the benefit of our real-life communities, why can’t we do the same to cheesers who ruin the well-being of NBA 2K9’s online community by exploiting the game in a similarly perverse manner?

you mean immensely HILARIOUS. it was the highlight of the article for me.

it's an obvious comedic overstatement, c'mon now.

Online should have a team ladder system, you start with the bottom tier teams, you have to win 2-3 games with each team in a bracket and move up to the next tier, so you don't get to use the top teams until you've used all the other ones. I hate all sports games online, because so many clowns jock the top teams, I use the Jets, Knicks and Notre Dame online, not exactly powerhouses. I've used these same teams for my 8 year online life. Yet I've always faced the best teams online. We're all Men Online, most of the time, so why so many act like Girls? Go to madden lobby east 1 and count how many people are using Dallas....what a joke. Copy Cats and Cheesers, I'd rather get pwned by Silenced Skorpion with Stopping Power...much better to die in COD4 than waste 40 mins against some moron in a 2-3 Zone with the Rockets, with Tmac at PG, and Artest at SG.

Anyhow, Lag is always poo-poo though. But what teams players pick is human error, and 5 on 5 is like BAP in NHL09, buggy and unfullfilling.

Percentages and unrealistic stats is a problem of all virtual sport games, mainly because of cheese and loopholes used by the players...
Humm are you sure about that? nhl09 5 on 5 is always been lag free for me and ive played over 60 games. But back on topic lets face it 2k isnt going to fix this. look at their mlb game last year....classic example.

Absolutely ingenious article...I hope VC takes this advice to heart and stops dumbing the game down for people who crave and are addicted to NBA Jammish Sportscenter type highlights...this used to be the game for simheads, but from NBA 2K3 to NBA 2K4, everything changed

Lets hope this obnoxiousness is terminated and we get a more real simmish game OUTTA THE BOX!

Couldn't agree with you more Jayson. I don't play much online but the 5 on 5 interested me in playing a bit more. totally f'd that up eh? And the 2k view gone is pathetic!

Little ranting and raving I see, but one thing you said was ingenius. Win two or three games with different "tier" teams to move up to the next "tier." That adds replayability, challenge, and eliminates some early cheesing. Couple this and not let you invite friends makes a pretty good start.

This is a great article. About time these guys got called out for this crap. 2K is so far behind in the online genre that it knocks their games down a notch.

Re: NBA 2K9 Demoted To D-League for Poor Online Performance

I only play this game online for league games. Luckily I found one that's very sim. It's got 30 teams, 10 minute quarters and it's very strict about sim play, which is fine by me.

The only other person I play this game is, is my brother. We play on the same console, so I can let him know he's playing like a cheap mutha... whenever I feel the need to.

All in all, I'm disappointed with 2k9. I was so hyped about playing this game before it came out. I got the game and it just dropped a dud on me with the online play along with the ******** sliders on default along with the even more ******** player ratings.

If it wasn't for the league that I'm in I wouldn't even play this game until a patch was released. So many things lead me to believe that this game was rushed.

                    great article - very thorough.

however, you miss-used the term "hedged our bets" - you and the brethren took a naked, directional bet.
