BAD CALL KILLS FALCONS

Another week, another bad call in the NFL.
WIth the Falcons trailing the Eagles by six and preparing to accept a Philly punt, Atlanta’s punt returner stopped short . . . and didn’t make a grab of the ball.
It hit the ground in front of the Falcon and bounced into the air. The ball was then recovered by the Eagles.
Ruling on the field? Muffed punt, Philly’s ball.
Though replays showed that the ball didn’t touch the Atlanta player, the incident occurred with more than 2:00 minutes remaining, so there was no booth review.
And because Falcons coach Mike Smith had used all of his second-half time outs, he couldn’t challenge the call.
On the next play, Eagles running back Brian Westbrook ran the ball 39 yards for a touchdown.
Game over.
