I disagree that if EA had acquired TAKE TWO, it would lose all incentive to continue to produce better games. The fact is the lack of quality games would eventually affect sales. Why would dissatisfied consumers buy newer versions of games when all one would have to do is play older versions and update the rosters?

I think that the end result would be better sports games at least for the short term. EA would/could basically combine the best of both worlds.
In all sports games there are things that EA sports does better than 2k, and vice versa.

However, long term, competition does stimulate innovation.
