New Commentary Available on XBL.
There are new commentary packs available for download on XBL. There's an add-on for Tyler and Gray for free, as well as other languages. Now there is an English #2, but it costs 400 points. So I'm downloading the free English and I'll let you guys know if there's anything that really jumps out. Brian
P.S. it's half a gig of commentary. Wow!Note to Tiburon Marketing:
A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

It's nothing. It's just the same one ad say you bought it in Poland and want the English commentary you can have it. Now on the Fifa Boards they are saying don't get the paid one. It's just re-worked EURO Commentary with a few different names added. They also said that every match starts with a comment about it being an International match. Sorry guys...Note to Tiburon Marketing:

I may download all the language packs. If you play a CL game in Poland switch to that language. I don't know that's a lot of space. It's nothing. Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
Cool. I was going to post a thread about missing commentary from last years game. Specifically the pre match commentary in derby matches. Maybe they've added it back in.
"It's Arsene Wenger against Alex..."
"The North London Derby...."
They've also eliminated all the talk about the stadiums throughout the game.Comment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
So after looking into this a little more there is no need to download the free English Commentary if you already have it as an option on your game. It will be the same thing.
If you pay for the English #2 version you get Clive Tyldesley and Andy Towshend.Comment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
FROM Kappa Tango on the EA Boards.....
COMMS: English 2, an Honest view <hr style="background-color: transparent;" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> This is not posted to tell you whether or not to Pay for the English 2 commentary. Its just my opinion of what I have bought.
I had heard about the Clive Tyldsley and Andy Townsend comms being all about international football as it is ripped from the FIFA Euro 08 game. I deliberately chose 2 club teams, exhibition.
Man U vs Man C
The game comms opened well. No mention of an International Fixture and a comment from Clive about these 2 teams having history and being Rivals. A good Start.
That was the high point. From there I am afraid my opinion dropped quickly.
The commentary is stunted. Its all one liners. There is no real fluid connection between phrases and dare I say, very Pro-Evo-esque. There is a defined pause between each comment, normally the comment is a simple "he's headed it away" ....... "Thats a good Tackle" ........ "and that will be a goal kick".
The only real interaction from Andy comes on Goals, and is quite accurate in its description of the finish. That said, again its all quite dull.
The half time whistle, CT asked AT to sum up the first half. Silence. I waited but to no avail.
The second half had the same broken and stuttered pace to the commentary, and as I mentioned before, very much like the Pro Evo 5/6 commentary structure, with no real feeling they are commentating on YOUR match.
I luckily had 500pts on my account from a gift card, been sat there for about 6 months, so dont feel cheated. But if you are expecting a new twang to the game, then English 2, IMO, is not worth paying for.
The FREE language packs, while impossible to understand, are fun to listen to.
Spanish and Mexican are a riot when a goal is scored - true to form on the GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL goal goal goal goal commentary. These are a fun addition and well worth downloading.
I will try another game to make sure, but I cant see myself switching to English 2. It makes you realise how much more developed the comms-to-play association is in 09 with Martin and Andy.

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
There is always a complainer. If it was truly a blind money grab, they wouldnt give you ANY alternate language packs for free.Comment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
The alternative packs were already finished for different regions and it's not unusal for companies to put multiple languages on the same disc. Someone actually had to spend a couple of minutes editing the EURO 08 pack, which was mostly finished and paid for through EURO 08 sales.
It reminds me a lot of being asked to pay for stadiums in NCAA football or uniforms in Madden. A second annoucing duo would have been included for free in the past. Now it's an excuse to ask a series' supports for even more money. My point is the cost of the download is way out of line in my opinion and EA should try to treat its hard core customers better. It's wouldn't have hurt them a bit to support their game with a second annoucing duo for free. They just don't think that way. It's always how much can we get.Comment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
I'm downloading them all right now, including the English 2 pack. After all, they're free (with the exception of E2, but I've had 400 points just sitting there not going to be used anyway... so why not?).
I like having the different languages, so if I'm playing a team from that country I can switch to that language. It makes my experience even more fun, IMO.Comment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
Im planning to download all the free ones too (except Swedish and Dutch, because they are already in my PAL game). Tried the Spanish and Italian ones too so far and the Spaniards are easily the most entertaining - GOL GOL GOL GOL GOL GOOOOOOLLLLLL!!! - and they seem to go crazy over some fairly mundane plays, just like that Simpsons ep haha.
The Dutch, Swedes and Italian ones were all comparaively dull to me (both in terms of their delivery and amount spoken during a match) but they offer up some good pronunciation tips for guys of their nationalities and beyond, which you can learn from and show off to your friends
Eg: the main Swede pronounced Kim Källstrom as chell-strum and John Carew as kar-eth like they should be pronounced. I'll eventually try out the Polish just to get a better grasp of saying Polish names ('w' is pronounced as 'v' right?).

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
I'll give EA props for letting us download the different language packs for free. It would be nice to have the an option in next year's menu to sync the language with the league without having to go back into settings before the match. I'm not sure why they don't just put all of these languages on the PS3 version since there is bound to be extra space. The download files take up more hard disk space than I want to commit.Comment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
just downloaded these now but as every one has been saying they dont add a whole lot. the foreign languages are interesting enough and English 2 is horrendous. but any one who has ever endured townsend commentating live should have seen that comingComment

Re: New Commentary Available on XBL.
wish they would bring out some decent commentary then.
I hate it at half time when you're 2-0 up, have had the bulk of possession and had twice as many shots on target and they always without fail say "this could be any score, they could be winning, they could be losing" etc etc. They should be talking about how I am destroying them. It seems all it cares about is if it is 2-0 or closer you get that phrase.Comment
