Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?
I recently sold my Wii (not enough games that interested me) and now have just the Ps3. I'm not really a hardcore gamer any more but I still play games when I can find time (young kids make this difficult). Seeing some good deals on the 360 lately and having the proceeds of the wii sale burning a hole in my pocket I've been tempted to pick one up. For those of you that own both is it worth it? Do you find one gets all the play while the other collects dust? For titles on both consoles is there really a big difference?

if you play online alot, I would get a 360 as the online service is 100x better. Other than that, I don't think it is necessary. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?
I used to have both, but ended up parting with the PS3.. despite the addition of blu-ray, and The Show, it really got no play. Online, while free, is lacking.
However, I might actually end up swapping my 360 out for a PS3 again for one simple fact.. wireless built in. I'm moving to a place where everything's going to be wireless, and I am not in a position to pay $100 for an adaptor for the 360.
Stick with one or the other..Comment

I have both...
I play all multi-system games on 360 (Xbox Live just destroys PSN), and use my PS3 for blu-rays and the rare kick *** exclusive (Drake's Fortune anyone?).
If you have the money, I'd say sure, it's worth it.Comment

The PS3's online play isn't as bad as it used to be. It's not as well rounded in terms of nealy everyone having head-sets, but the majority of games don't have LAG anymore unless YOUR internet connection isn't properly configured wirelessly.
As for the 360.
I'm actually playing my Sports games on the PS3. Mainly due to the ease of transferring rosters between users. NCAA Football is the only game that makes no difference due to EA Share.
As for the "cross platform" games. I still give the 360 the slight edge since it's normally been the lead SKU.
As a Casual gamer you're not going to get much more use out of your 360. You'd mainly have it just for games like Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Halo...
How ever there are some GREAT deals for the 360 to be had this holiday. The question really is, how much do you plan to go online and download games off of XBox Live Arcade? How much online do you plan to play?BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

The spending the 200 Bucks for an Arcade Pack 360 (then getting a refurb 20gig from MS for $20) is tempting. If you get a Pro Pack for 300 bucks with a 60gig HD, that's good too, BUT you still need to get a wireless adapter for another 100 bucks.... so you're still back to 300 or 400 when all is said and done. If you're wired in then this is a moot point.
You'll still want access to online for the NXE (game install is nice for this system) and patches for various games.
This would be a tough choice to make.
More and more of the cross platform games are starting to be equal visually on both systems. Like the Call of Duty Series... and the EA Sports games are damn near close now too.
I'm thankful that I've got both systems. I've got more games on my 360 though, but I'm very glad I've gotten a chance to play games like Metal Gear 4, Little Bit Planet, and Resistance 2 on the PS3... and I'm thankful I've been able to play some of the 360 exclusives like Halo 3, Gears of War 1 & 2....Last edited by DXZeke; 11-29-2008, 12:12 AM.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Well worth owning both IMO.
Any game made for both consoles I pick up on the 360 due to the fact XBL is so much better, but I love my PS3 also mostly due to MLB The Show (love baseball games and it alone makes the PS3 worthwhile to me), on top of that I'm a big Blu-ray fan now.
Also own the Wii, it gets the least play of the 3 but its the biggest hit when guests our over, although Rock Band gets a lot of play to in those cases.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?
360 pretty much collects dust for me and I've had a WAY better online experience with PSN (only 1/17 games have had lag compared to 9/14 on the 360 also a lot less jackasses) as well as a massively better overall experience with the PS3 in general. If it weren't for RB or if I could at least have my DLC marked as purchased on PSN as well I'd sell the 360. It's just been one terrible thing after another with it. I went from febuary to september without buying a 360 game and started getting everything on the PS3 instead. Really only RB 2 and Fable II had been getting any play before it broke for the 5th time, bit of Crash Time but that's nothing most people would be intrested in.Comment

Re: Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?
I have both. I play sports games on the PS3 (especially MLB The Show) and exclusives. I play 360 exclusives on the Xbox. When it comes to multi platform titles I will get the version which is rated higher. If they get the same score I will get the one I can find used.Comment

Re: Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?
i had both at one time got rid to 360 and don`t regret it one bit. I just used my PS3 more for gaming and the Blu-Ray player is also a big plus. The majority of of my gaming is sports games but i have others like Rock Band, Brothers in Arms and Metal Gear Solid. I play online a little and don`t have any problems with itComment

Re: Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?
Im the Exact opposite, I had a PS3 and a Xbox but I never played my PS3 outside of MLB. I ended up trading in both my xbox and PS3 for a Xbox elite. I am very happy with my choice and not at all disappointed about the PS3.
I personally think 360 has an edge in Games and Online play.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment
