Re: SEC Championship: Alabama vs. Florida
I cannot wait for this game! It should be a battle all the way through.
With a semi-healthy Harvin - I go Florida wins by 7-10 late in the 4th quarter.
Without Harvin - Florida squeaks out a win late in the fourth by 3 or 4 points.
The X-factors will be Brandon James and the punt team of UF and Javier Arenas of Bama. Both are dangerous returners. The other obvious key is turnovers. Florida has to limit the turnovers as they have done pretty well since Ole Miss. If JPW throws a couple of picks, that could be curtains for the Tide.
It's going to be a great game. It will be even greater if we get past Bama in Atlanta.Last edited by J-Unit40; 11-30-2008, 09:28 AM."Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.”Comment

Re: SEC Championship: Alabama vs. Florida
"Alabama loves its football, and really truly insanely loves the Iron Bowl, which is why it would be disrespectful to use this day of all days to look ahead to the SEC Championship Game, when the Crimson Tide will have their asses kicked. "
Uhmm...seriously? WTF?

Re: SEC Championship: Alabama vs. Florida
What the hell is up with the media? Are they being serious or are they trying to set Florida up to fail?
"Florida will blow away Alabama"
Los Angeles Daily News article by Michael Ventre
Nov,30 2008
Atlanta -- "Alabama doesn't have a hope, or a prayer, or a shot in the dark of upsetting the Gators to play for the national championship in next week's SEC Championship game. And it won't even be close. Alabama will be trounced, clobbered, mauled, devastated, humiliated and left for dead. The Crimson Tide will not roll, not even a little bit. Saturday night you will experience low Tide. Probably even ebb Tide. You wouldn't even have to hike up your pant legs to wade in what be left of this Tide after the Gators pass through. Here are the reasons why:
Reason No. 1: ATTITUDE
The Alabama people are just too darned nice. They're too respectful. All their players act as if Bear Bryant is waiting in the woodshed with a whittled switch if they misbehave. This may be OK in the SEC West, where everybody is like that. But how can you build up a nice healthy hatred for a renegade school like Florida if you spend most of your time acting like Sunday school teachers? You may not like Florida, but they have an attitude. And you NEED an attitude. Just listen to Florida fan Tucker Handling talk about how the Florida receivers do what they do: "They try to talk to the defensive back as much as possible. When he starts listening, that's when I know the Gators have them in their back pocket."
Reason No. 2: AIR POWER
Alabama believes in establishing its running game. That's dandy, except for the fact that tonight the only running the Crimson Tide will do is running onto the field, and then running off it. Alabama will not be able to move the ball. It won't be able to BUDGE the ball. You will need calipers to measure Alabama's productivity on the ground. So then the Alabama players will have to throw. And they won't be able to do that, either. And they'll commit turnovers. And then the Florida players will boogie and gyrate as they create a new dance for the occasion. See, Alabama's quarterback is a guy named John Parker Wilson. He is a nice young man, and when he regains consciousness late Saturday night, I hope he has a plan for the future that features him as a constructive member of society. Because when the fraternity brothers of I Slamma 'Bama get through with him, the only football he'll ever want to play is X-Box. Florida, on the other hand, has a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback in Tim Teabow, a formidable offensive line and a fine group of receivers. "We're too talented," Florida Fan, Fireman Tim says. He speaks the truth.
Reason No. 3: COACHING
Don't get me wrong. I like Nick Saban. He's a terrific coach. He has restored much of the luster to the Alabama tradition. And he has his club on the brink of a national title. But he made a big boo-boo last Saturday night. By having his team beating Auburn, he instilled a false hope. For Alabama, there is no hope. Instead of having them lose this season to avoid the beat down on next Saturday, he has them thinking they can actually compete with the Gators. Gator fan Pete Comita said. "They showed the Alabama Auburn game last night and I said to myself that who does this team and their fans think they are to even begin to think they have a shot or a glimmer of hope. I almost feel sorry for them. It's unbelievable." That's good. For a game of this magnitude, you have, in no particular order, groupies, derelicts, boosters, maniacs, spouses of boosters, students, drifters, children of boosters and drunken rednecks scattered throughout the teams' hotels, trying to get a piece of the action. This isn't good for Alabama. Their fan base is a joke. On the week before a game, the team needs to stay together, avoid distractions at all costs and focus on the task at hand. Saban, though, has chosen to keep his team in the middle of the madness and delusions that they can compete with the Gators. Big mistake. Most teams look confused and disoriented against Florida anyway. Saturday night Alabama will look that way during pre-game introductions.
Reason No. 4: KARMA
You just get the overwhelming feeling that its Florida's year again. Little things are adding up. Alabama's Glenn Coffee has a bum ankle and will be about as potent as decaf against the other worldly Gator defense. Florida survived the Ole Miss scandal and Teabow's post game speech seems to have woven a spell over the media and college football fans alike in the same way President Elect Barrack OBama was able to do with his speeches.
Saturday the Tide won't roll. It will roll over and wish they were still suffering from the effects of probation. They will wish Phil Fulmer was still a secret witness for the NCAA (Who were breaking their own rules) and selling his soul to the devil."Twitter

Re: SEC Championship: Alabama vs. Florida
Husker, for the very little CFB coverage we get here, everyone is saying that Florida will completely destroy Alabama.
I want Florida to win, but I'm taking Alabama by 14. I also think that Alabama matches up with the Big 12 teams better than Florida. I am leaving this board for 9 months if this happens.Blue Jays, Blackhawks, AuburnComment
