No patch for 2K9

According to Ronnie over at the 2K forum:

"We have been listening to concerns and problems from our customers pertaining to NHL 2K9, most notably the issue with franchise freezing. Unfortunately, there is no fix for this at this moment. With no patch anticipated for this title, we are looking at causes for this problem and how we may resolve it by avoiding certain gameplay. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding."

I guess "avoiding certain gameplay" means don't bother with a franchise.

nhl 2k series = joke (as of right now)

2k5 last solid game, all down hill after that.

i also dont care that VC took over etc. no excuse for this cluster of a game.

Well, think about it. Do you know what has probably been the biggest downfall of most sports titles? The pressure to put out something new each and every year. That's a bit ridiculous.

I can understand the pressure of putting out something new....but taking away a lot of features is something I can't understand. The excuse with it being a new development team is just that...an excuse. It's still the same game as it has been the past couple years. If it was released and had new graphics (they are worse then previous versions), new gameplay (flawed), a different look overall, then I could understand the "first year jitters". But all they did was take away features (why?), add a zamboni and playoff off beards. The simplest thing, the boxscore, was broken! Inexcusable. I don't seen 2k doing another hockey game. They'll probably announce the canceling of 2k10 the day before they release it for retail!

agreed. i always thought they should come out every other year. just keep us updated with patches and rosters in the off year.

Sierra's Front Page Sports football had it right. They released the same game year after year because at the time, the gameplay was fine. All they did the next year, was drop the game's price in half, and basically it was a few tweaks with updated rosters. Why fix something that isn't broken.

Yeah but the you some people bitching "This is a next gen console, I wnat anext gen game!!".

I'll ask you guys: What does constitute a next gen game? Graphics? Yippee f'n do...

Give me a game with very good gameplay and decent graphics and I'll be more than happy. à la NFL2k5.

Way it should be? That is the way it USED to be. Great gameplay, decent, but not great graphics.

I think annual releases are a bit ambitious as well. That doesn't really give a development team enough time to implement and more importantly, QA a gameplay change or new feature. As a result of the current development schedule, we're getting buggy games with poorly implemented features. 2k hockey games have had franchise bugs since day 1 and still do. Problem is, they spend their resources piling on new stuff instead of fixing the old stuff. It's madness I say.......madness!!!!

Not even a simple roster update from what I heard.
Pitiful, to say the least. I can't support them if they won't support us.
They sure have gone down hill fast. Wonder what happened?

i am pissed too with this year's NHL games, both EA and 2k, specially to 2k. i bought 2k from 2k3-2k9. i was hoping 2k9 is a better improvement of 2k8. but 2k is moving 10 steps BACKWARD. i totally agree that they should release new games every 2 years, just patch it up even if we have to pay like $10-20 instead of charging us $60-70 WITH CRAPPY PRODUCT. i guess their reason to release "NEW" games is to support their company's existence and not to give consumers the value of our money.

next year.... ill go rent the sport games. and if see what i want, then thats the only time im going to buy. this is really BS giving us crappy game.... not even a roster update. at least EA gave their patch and roster.
