Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
Agreed, but MLB The Show has had the core elements down for a few years now. It's time to start adding the goodies.... dynamic lighting was obviously a great start as well as the field wear. But last year I remember one of the devs mentioning something about trying to get this in for 09 - guess it didn't make it.Comment

sorry for the terribly spelling and grammar...haha...I edited it in my original post. Must be half asleep stillAgreed, but MLB The Show has had the core elements down for a few years now. Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
I'm sure this has something to do with it. If they put everything we want in the game it might possibly cause slow down (think 2k), and there's no way I want that. I hope the mascots being activate don't hurt the frame rate.Comment

Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
I sure could be wrong but I have a feeling that the MASCOTS will not be in real time just cut scenes. But I am hoping for real time!!
So this would not kill the frame rate.Comment

Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
I'm pretty sure the mascots will only appear in cut scenes. I swear if I see them dancing and running amok all over the ballpark while I am playing (like that annoying beachball in '08) I will blow a gasket.Comment

Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
Speaking of the beachball I wonder if Sony will cut that down a tad. I like having it but I will agree they show it too often. I hope they still have the beachball but just show it less often.Comment

Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
I bet the beach ball doesn't appear as often. It was a good idea, but not implemented real well. Would be okay if it's not even there. Yeah, I was thinking ASB where the mascots appeared on top of the dugouts all the time. If they're just in cut scenes in the stands, that will do.Comment

Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
Acclaim had been doing it since All Star Baseball 2002 (plus live scoreboard and bottom line updates), just as a frame of reference.
This has also been in since ASB 2002. Again, just saying that it can be, and should be able to be done. I think one of the NBA 2K developers spoke of the individual SPU's in the PS3's core and how they can make things like this happen, also so that everything happens in real time and cut scenes are real time as well. Hopefully someday we get that kind of result.
I only posted in the older thread so far (just about the quality of the screencaps themselves), but the lighting in this game is simply amazing. In a way, it very much reminded me of MLB 2K7's system, which is pretty much all that I can ask for. Major props to them getting this in this year... it is bar none one of the biggest things I was hoping to get out of current-gen gaming, and I am very happy that they are including the time-of-day progression.
It's about time that my 7:00 games don't start pitch black, that's all I have to say.Last edited by Blzer; 12-24-2008, 11:53 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: couple of new screens 12/23/08
Let's not forget the SILLY things 2K cuts back on to add these things.
IE: Dramatic drop in player detail level, and, most annoying of all, the disaster job they did with the crowd. Every person in the stand had enough room between themselves and the next guy to pitch a tent... looked ridiculous.Comment
