To answer your immediate question, I think Smackdown vs RAW was the first SD game to offer a draft. Not sure though.

IIRC, HCTP had the better roster, but SYM had the better story mode. I think the storyline in SYM was one of the best ones in the series, personally.

Looking at the Wikipedia entries for each game, HCTP was the first Smackdown to have a body damage meter; SYM does not have this. HCTP also has match types that SYM does not have, including the Elimination Chamber and First Blood. HCTP finally appears to boast a more advanced grappling system than SYM.

I don't think you can go too wrong with either of them, to be honest.

Agreed, both games are good (and very cheap btw). As for which one had the draft it was Smackdown:SYM, it happens when during the story mode.

I used to play SD games all the time, but grew tired of the series a couple of years ago.

Picked up both games yesterday and only paid $15. Only played a few exhibition matches in HCTP but really enjoy the feel of the gameplay. Graphics are a little dated, but no real issue there. Going to fire up season mode today.

Smackdown:SYM , but everytime I tried to beat my opponent he would reverse it and beat me up instead. Things never went my way when i tried to do that.

I personal experience with both was great. The best thing is they were cost effective and usable with comfort.

Here Comes The Pain improved on everything that made SYM so fun. Both games had a great roster, but the later one had weight detection, blood, a body damage system, two reversal buttons, and added the elimination chamber, which was a fun match type to play.

Other than No Mercy and WCW/nWo Revenge, I think it's the best North American wrestling game. I have both, and I spent a lot of time with Shut Your Mouth, but HCTP blew my mind when it came out. I still play it to this day sometimes.
