legend defenders don't really play differently. Their inherent defensive ai is the same. only different is how fast their speed, reaction, chance of making the tackle.
this would be good if their default AI was good.
I exaggerated a little as most people don't pick 11 defenders. But I have played teams with 7-8 legend defenders and it makes little difference because offense is so overpowered. As to who i played, i used to play hundreds of people online and the results were the same. People who offered the most difficulties usually stack the offense.

I agree with this statement. It is much more difficult to stop a stacked offense then it is to score on a stacked defense.

Football videogames by default will always benefit the offense because you can see the entire field. Knowing this, developers should make their game to help curb this. Problem is people who complain about how hard the game is when it's their own issues with the game.
I used to think that until recently. I been playing alot online and i found a way to limit scores. I played one of the biggest cheesers in APW history the other day and the final score was 21-13. I fubared a extra point. It was a close game. Its all about learning how to manually control a defensive player. I still ahve the occasional shoot out when everything just goes wrong, but i have a team where i can play a damned fine game of defense.

IF someone doesnt beleive me on this my gamer tag is kcxiv and me and you can play and i will show anyone of you. I dont care what the make up of your team is. I am not saying i am the best or anything, but i think i can do pretty damn well.

Game has a few problems no doubt, few annoying things that both offense and defense have, but if your good and know what you are doing on d you can have a hell of a defense. Still the best playing football game to date.

I need a good defense to win games and disagree with the statements about offense. I used to think that way, but ever since the manual control on defense has been figured out things have definitely balanced in my eyes.

As far as DL picks being a waste... disagree there too. A silver or gold DL can kill drives by himself.

Not everything is perfect, no. But APF isn't nearly as broken as some people are describing it.

I don't agree with this statement simply for the fact that rarely if anyone picks offensive lineman to protect their quarterback or to have a good run game.

On the contrary everyone picks receivers and DB's simply because the legends on the dline though tough at times just don't bring enough trouble to where it forces a player to pick offensive lineman. When in reality teams never win on a steady basis without a great offensive line.

In the end, APF is a video game, just like the NFL they are always going to cater stuff towards the offense. Offense sells. Just like almost every single sports game out there. Ever wonder why in baseball games its almost impossible to draw a walk against the cpu?

Hell, sometimes offensive lineman will just stand there and the defender goes right by, but hey, i seen my beloved KC Chiefs olinemen (Damien Sackintosh) Do the same thing and he gets paid millions. lol

Hell, the NFL even put in the Ty Law rule because defenses were to dominating. Like everyone says, APF is far from perfect, but imo its closer then any football game to date on a console. I cant speak for PC as i never really played sports games on a PC.

The problem is you can only control 1 defender on defense. You can't set a style you want controlling just 1 player.

If a guy runs toss plays 90% of the time, I want my defense to overpursue and let me contain the cutback lane. You can't do that. You can blitz, slant, etc, but it's not the same as setting a mentality in the D.
http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80dd2649 This is what I'm talking about. Dynamic defense vs 2k's static D.

Contrary to what people believe, football isn't tecmo bowl. You don't counter a play with another play. You counter with good technique and execution.

I think 2k5 was a much closer SIM than 2k8. They should've fixed the bugs and retuned that game with anonymous players. Would've took 3 months and done much better.

What a waste of a game 2k7 was. Why did they waste all this money on legends. Why did they can the entire project and not just the marketing idiot who came up with that idea. And same for the dude who came up with the over the top stadium idea. If anything the stadiums should have been more more simple yet customizable.

Why not just do it like PES. Let players customize EVERYTHING. Let them take their custom shares and start online leagues with them. Let them delve into deep legacy modes. Let them share files online. Let them share stadium colors online. Let them share videos online.

Don't release it to compete with NCAA or Madden. WAIT. Wait until you are a couple weeks from the playoffs. So you are right in time for the holiday. Right when football fever is growing with the college bowl games and NFL playoffs. Right before the Super Bowl...and best of all, right AFTER every has tried and given up on Madden. Get a deal with EB Games to give an extra $10 in credit for trade in on Madden for APF.
