Why Can't Madden Football Look Like This?

This Game is older and and not even Next Gen, but yet it looks so much more realistic then Madden.. Why? Madden's Graphics look good but the players don't look as proportional and realistic as 2k Football games.. Madden needs to start making the game and players look more realistic and less cartoony. Take a good look at these pics and you can see what a realistic football game should look like and play.. The pics look like real life football images not a game. When will Madden football look and play like this??

Am I looking @ the right picture? APF 2K8 is on XBOX 360 and PS3...last time I checked thats next gen(save your xbox 720 talk)

And ummm I just spent 5 hours last night recreating the 96 Packers on that beauty of a game...it seriously owns my soul even two years later.

There are two things I really like about All-Pro's graphics:

-Softening/blurring images in the distance (which you can see in those two photos above)... they did this a lot in Madden 07 and it was very realistic to what you see on TV when camera men are trying to get focus on a level or a specific player. If you watch a game on TV it's impossible not to see this happen all game long. You also see this a lot in Head Coach '09 and games like NBA 2K9. FIFA '09 does a bit of it, too It's really nice.

-Player model detail... the player models are detailed at a level so incredible, I'm still shocked. But at the same time by doing that, they had to take away from the detail of everything else and it really downgraded the overall picture.

I like the size of the player models in All Pro, but not the proportions. A perfect example of how they messed up here is with Ickey Woods. That guy was a massive beast in real life, but in All Pro he looks like he hit Jenny Craig really, really hard.

I think the one thing you take from All Pro is something I've been taking about with Madden... the need to make design choices that maintain the overall and not take away from the essential parts. Making sensible choices. The player model detail in All Pro was ultra-high and that was great, but as a result you got low-res stadiums and the worst-looking grass ever which was terrible. You got AI sidelines, but they too looked mostly low res. If they'd just dropped the on-field player model detail to something more sensible, they may have had more resources available to up the overall picture. Its all about proper balance.

All-Pro Football is my inspiration bro...They combined the elements of football & gaming perfectly. The only thing I'd change is the speed button...don't like the mashing.

If that game had the real NFL teams w/current rosters...WOW!!!

what i like most about APF was how it created a pocket for the QB, and how the animations were more smooth and realistic, especially the route running. madden has always had rigid rout running.

And maybe it was just me, but all the player models looked very similar. The linemen really had no "beef" about them.

Anywho, there's several things that Madden should "borrow" from APF but I don't necessarily think graphics/player models is one of them.

APF has it's downfalls, but the game plays so much like more like real life. I find myself replaying every pass play because the pocket is so life-like and the receiver interactions are fabulous. Madden could learn a lot from APF, but let's not act like it's perfect. I think a lot of Madden's player models are better.

I guess it's subjective but I think Maddens graphics are way behind 2k8. When you factor in animation with the graphics it's a blowout, the players animate so well in 2k8 they make Madden look like 8-bit Nintendo.

The line play in 2k is so superior to EA's efforts that it makes the game for me. I wish that EA would scrap the spastic front 7 play on offense and defense and go to something like 2k had.

2k's presentation and atmosphere are so far ahead of Maddens it isn't even worth discussing. Too bad 2k's playbooks suck and all-pro was a terrible idea of a game for offline play.

Makes you one unhappy gamer without competition not?

APF's player models are awful, the worst in any next-gen sports game. At least Madden's pre-08 'roided-up fire hydrant player models looked like men. APF's player models look like high school kids. They're much too skinny, they have toothpick arms with no muscle, and there's no beef to them as someone mentioned. Visually, Madden crushes APF, in the same way APF beats Madden in the gameplay department.

APF player model's wheren't awful im sorry, they looked very good considering that wasn't Next Gen Graphics. You have to remember 2K made the player models skinny on purpose in order to make them look more like back in the early days of football. Back then the olinemen and dlinemen looked and weighed around 245 pounds not 300+ like todays players.. If you look back at 2k5 the players models looked more like todays athletes. Maddens graphics beat out 2k8, but proportional and realistic wise 2k has always been better hands down..

Look when people here just see at the game 2k8 and the way it plays, it makes them excited to want to play that game, still.. Thats what it's all about! The fact it still makes people feel excited after so long and not being a Next Gen game says alot about 2k football.. Madden has to make a football game that makes people get excited to play it plain and simple..

Dude I hate to burst your bubble but APF2K8 is a NEXT GEN game. It came out for XBox 360 and PS3.

And on another note it is cool to state the facts about 2k football games like there animations are better, gameplay is more realistic, ect.... but there models/graphics are terrible compared to madden. That is the 1 department where Madden crushes them (IMO).

Madden has great graphics if nothing else. Its playbook art looks better too.

I will concede APF has superior gameplay and what not, but not graphics.

Indivual player models? Madden's are better.

What 2K did well though, was create the overall graphics package.

Snow on the top of the pylons, referees and chaingangs, nets behind the goal posts, rain splashing off helmets, sideline interaction.

THAT is what made the game so immersive. If Madden could have it's current player models in the APF environment... Holy cow, we would be in for a treat.
