    Because Utah beat them.

Isn't that what their argument always boils down to?

They don't deserve a chance to split the title. While I agree they played well this year, the good teams they beat during the season (TCU, BYU, Oregon St) aren't exactly world beaters, despite their "rankings" at the time. Will they could compete, they don't really compare to FL, OU and Texas.

A month ago Bama were looking at playing in the NC game. It would be like the Colts and the Falcons playing for 11th place. They wouldn't care. When the Sugar Bowl was played, it was a big deal for Utah, not for Bama.

So tell us the "world beater" Florida & OU beat that makes them more worthy than Utah?

LOL, yep, considering Florida had to beat the same "uninspired and overrated" Bama team to get into the national championship game.

I love the double standards. His post is the exact reason why we need a playoff.

Who cares, they finished the season ranked higher, play consistently better opponents and play in better divisions. Unless a non-BCS team play a ridiculously hard OOC Schedule, their conference play can't even compare.

Notre Dame just went 13-0. On their schedule they beat the #24, Pac-10 Runner-Up, #11, #14 and #4 teams in the country. Where do you rank them?

Every sports writer in the country would have Notre Dame at #1. They'd be unanimous.

So yes, Utah probably deserves the AP Title based on my unscientific thought experiment. That doesn't mean they will though :o
Easily the best analogy in the entire thread.

Double standards is the thing. If Utah's schedule was reversed w/OU, FL, USC, TX etc & they had gone unbeaten while the Utes lost one, no one would have a problem w/those Big 4 getting the #1 nod if they went undefeated. Just because the "13-0" is next to the Utes name, they want to downgrade it.

Um....you care? Since you say Utah went unbeaten vs "non-world beaters", you obviously feel its a criteria. If not, don't bring it up to criticize Utah's accomplishment.

And the MWC was probably the 3rd or 4th best conference in the country this year. They nearly went undefeated against a conference (Pac-10) that's currently 5-0 in bowl games.

This wouldn't even be a discussion if "OU" or "Florida" were interchanged with Utah's resume.

Not trying to start an argument, but based on the way the NC are currently selected Utah doesn't cut it.

                        Just my opinion

Does it even matter to him that they crushed Alabama? If Utah would have lost, they would have been an "LOL SO SOFT MWC team". But when Alabama loses, it's directly a result of them being overrated and uninspired.

Pretty much a lose-lose situation for Utah.

Absolutely. And it's because of people like that, we'll always have this crappy system.

Exactly. This is what a lot of people see them as being, including voters.

It's exactly the same reason they will not get a shared title.

Once again, this isn't even a conversation if this is 13-0 Notre Dame/Michigan/USC with the exact same resume as Utah's.
