Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?
It's the same kind of ridiculous argument I've seen for years on sports forums made by those wanting to downplay meaningful wins. If a team beats a strong opponent this only means that the opponent wasn't really that strong in the first place and therefore that team still hasn't beaten anyone good. It's a dumb circular argument.Comment

Yet they all lost and Utah didn't. Where's the proof that any of them could beat Utah?Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Because (insert argument that Alabama was an unmotivated team, that Utah played in a weak conference, even though the MWC was probably the 3rd or 4th best conference this year, that Florida/OU/Texas would be a favorite (LOL, like Alabama wasn't?), etc).I write things on the Internet.

LOL. Yep.It's the same kind of ridiculous argument I've seen for years on sports forums made by those wanting to downplay meaningful wins. Especially considering the same people would have then called Utah an "LOL SOFT MWC TEAM" had they lost to Bama.
I also get the feeling that some people think Bama is overrated BECAUSE they lost to Utah, which is probably the case considering the number of ******** "They played in a weak conference" posts.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 01-04-2009, 01:14 PM.I write things on the Internet.

Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?
I don't even understand why there's an arguement.
Yes, Utah deserves a chance at at split MNC as much as anyone else this year. Unfortunately, they won't get it but anyone that says they don't deserve it is ridiculous.
I swear it seems like some people in this forum just like to argue for arguement sake sometimes. One of the reasons I rarely post in the CFB forum anymore...Comment

Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?
Yep. Please remind me of the world-beaters Florida and Oklahoma beat.
Oh wait, that same "uninspired and overrated" Bama team that boosted Florida to the MNC game? Texas Tech for Oklahoma?I write things on the Internet.

Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?
you dont hear Texas fans in this thread saying they have a better case than the Utes. That loss is why Utah has a better case for #1 than Texas does. Ive said quite often in this thread that I feel Utah should be #1 regardless of what happens in the final two games.
If Texas manages to win a tough game, they will have the best case when it comes to the one loss teams, but they wont have a better case than Utah.Last edited by ZB9; 01-04-2009, 02:47 PM.Comment

Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?
You dont understand what im saying. The Sugar Bowl is a national stage, and it's the first time Bama has been able to play back at the Sugar BOwl since it's been a BCS game.
People "care" about playing in games like that, especially Bama. Saying they "dont care" would be like saying USC didnt care about getting back to the Rose Bowl after their pre-Carroll dry spell in the 90s.
lol so I guess according to you, no one should care about their bowl game except for the teams playing in the national championshipAnd yes, when you are 1 quarter away from the NC game, having to play a BCS bowl instead is a let down.
again, you cant gauge how much a team cares, but even if you could, it doesnt matter. That is not valid in this discussion.Last edited by ZB9; 01-04-2009, 07:26 PM.Comment
