Lebron's Crab Dribble? What do you guys think?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=290104027

I like Lebron but i DO think he got away with a travel against the Wizards in the playoffs. And i DO think that "Crab Dribble" is a travel. Since we on the topic of traveling I do think a lot of the superstars get away wit some extra "shuffling".

Well if you went back and took away all the real carries and travels in the NBA would any game ever be completed? Ya he got away with it but I can watch an NBA game and call out some sorta suffling or carrying on every offensive set.

Aside from that, yeah he traveled. He gets away with murder on drives, lol. He's talented enough, I don't think it'd really take away from the game if the refs called his carries and 3 step shuffles. He'd adjust.

Stars have always gotten away with something in the league.

As Karl Malone said "find out what you can do and if you can get away with it, keep doing it"

Which is why he got away with alot of elbows and kicking people in the stomach and groin, and also why Stockton pulled and grabbed and Utah had a dirty rep but it never showed with whistles.

You're right, but there are some things that stars do that they should really be called on. I think KG's offensive foul screens are like Lebron's steps. Certain calls are difficult to make, like Iverson's carry or Shaq in general. Pierce going to the hole is another one. We get kinda judgmental when we watch on TV, but in person these guys are so fast and athletic that it's hard to pick things up at that speed.

Other calls are more obvious. Lebron's steps are the kinds of things that everyone sees, and so are his carries. Part of it is because he's so tall, you can see that ball come up and his hand get under it. He's an amazing player, so making that call will just result in an adjustment, but right now it gives him an unnecessary advantage.

Thing is LeBron isnt the only player that travels. It happens alot in the league and you see it happen all the way from your 30 inch tv. You know they can see it standing a few feet away.

The problem arises once again with this league is that they are selectively inconsistent with their calls and judgements, and its mostly the fans that suffer.

Good to see the Wiz still fighting. Tough year but glad they are still playing hard.

It's not just that he travels, it's that he has traveled on multiple game winning or game deciding drives against the Wizards. In situations strikingly similar to sunday afternoons, Lebron has traveled and gotten away with it consistently. Officials just threw the zards a bone here so they can't say that its "never" called.

Whatever, traveling is (or should I say isn't?) part of the NBA.

he traveled but jamison, caron butler, and especially gilbert have all traveled in similar situations.

                      no big deal to me.

It would be cool if the NBA would be consistent across the board on ALL traveling though so situations liek this dont get blown way out of proportion

What's funny to me is James really doesn't think he traveled on that play. He is not right in his head if he truly believes that.

You can do the "crab dribble" without traveling, but what he did in the playoffs years back, and what he did last night are nothing short of traveling.

As I look at the replay more and more, this is what stands out to me the most, lol. It's closer to 3 1/2 steps than it is a debatable 2 1/2-3 steps. At first it didn't look as blatant as the travel in the other Wizards game, but from the angle where you can see him pick up the ball, it's pretty bad. I don't care who it is, it is not fair to ask the defense to defend that play. I understand letting a fastbreak travel, a shuffle on a catch and shoot or a carry while going around a screen, but this is a late game, one on one move. It would be such bad officiating to let someone just run around someone else like that.

                          LMAO...crab dribble.
