    Kle's PS2 2009 NFL Draft Class

    Ready for download...

Here's the list of players who are available in the draft, along with what I made their overall ratings in NCAA 09. I won't tell you what their overall ratings are in Madden, because that would defeat the purpose of the NFL Draft all together now wouldn't it?

I will say though, when looking at them in the draft projections...they are pretty out of whack because of the in-season progression that takes place to the players in NCAA. The order these are in are actually based on round-projection by the Madden draft...which makes the results kind of weird...

The ratings were based on a combination of Scout.com's draft rankings, and the draft rankings at nfldraftcountdown.com with a hint of my own personal opinion.

Kle, have I told you lately that I love you? These are great, thanks alot.

EDIT: Eden Britton is the only player I saw missing, otherwise I think you nailed it. Anyway you could post next year's draft class later on from these...?

We'll see. It took me about four days just to get this class right...I'm not sure if I'll have the time to go through the rosters and do it again for an entire new class, but we'll see. I won't rule it out or say I will do it, either.

Oh, I was just hoping you could sim through next year and post the draft class. After this, you really don't have to do much for next year. Just let it play out.

This is great, just started playing with it. It does suck that the ratings are high, but this is fantastic.

Nah, I can't do that. To make the thing as precise as possible, I took everyone who was in the top 30 or so at each position that wasn't in the draft and made them a true sophomore so they wouldn't declare for the draft and screw it up...that was faster than going through and changing their ratings to make them worse. So now I would have to go through, find the juniors who would be in next year's draft, make them seniors, and then change all their ratings to pro-rate them for next year, while also taking the actual seniors/juniors at the top of the ratings at each position and making all of them true sophomores so they don't get into a second draft class, then I would have to sim out a season again.

How do you have it formatted? Do you just have roster files that are set up with the top players from each class on top? After the draft class is exported there's really nothing to do with it...

If you have some kind of organized roster file though, definitely give it to me and I can mess around with it and maybe complete them and post them.

I think the deadline to enter the draft was Thursday at 5 PM EST wasn't it?

Oh ok I didn't know that. Well I hope nobody does that then haha. Although I'm thinking of running another sim through NCAA to see if Britton and Barden can get included into the draft class anyway.

Let me know on the 2010 class you're working on. I'd be glad to pick it up.

And just as Matt said...Brandon LaFell withdrew his name today.

I'm gonna tweak this to get him out and get Britton and Barden in there...then I'll post up a new version in the coming days.

                      Re: Kle's PS2 2009 NFL Draft Class

Well, I figured out there's some different things that go on. I for one didn't realize that Madden determines the draft class as you import it...not NCAA choosing as you export it. Therefore, when I simmed through another franchise and imported the draft class again, I had some different players popping up who weren't in the list above...so I guess it's all up to you.

                        Re: Kle's PS2 2009 NFL Draft Class

I've done the same thing as you Kle - I revamped my NCAA rosters to be super accurate for this upcoming draft but i was disappointed with the outcome in madden. I'm hoping maybe you or someone else can help me get better results.

i've gotten some good overall results (87+ x 7, 83-86 x 15 80-83 x 35, all others below 80) That's good but the real problem isn't overall like it used to be in the past. There are now a new host of problems.

1- Of the 7 players over 87 - 5 of them were not the best at their postion coming out of college. Does the game just randomly chose who's the best or is there an attribute that goes a long way in determining this (AWR)

Qb's - Top are chosen at random other then that this is one of the beter positions
HB's - Only 1 real probelm here - SPEED - it is way low.
WR - Random top players, Speed again, and strength is way off the rest of the NFL
                        TE - this is ok
OL - Completly random and noone over 80, but ok
DE - Random, maybe a little to good
                        DT - perfect!
LB's - are all horrible after the top 4
CB's - Them and Safties are the most random. I had 5 98 overalls coming from NCAA i got a 90, 82,80,74,74, Now i don't mind the 74's as much as the 90
S's - really random - this used to be the most overrated po now their all a little week - thou it is a bad S class

Any words of wizdom would be great!!!

i've gotten some good overall results (87+ x 7, 83-86 x 15 80-83 x 35, all others below 80) That's good but the real problem isn't overall like it used to be in the past.

Well I know when I was just looking at the draft projections (all I did to test the class was import them after a year of franchise, look at the players who made it and their projections, and then just shut it down to do some fine tuning), but when I put Sanchez and Stafford as the only two QB's with the highest OVR rating in NCAA, Sanchez ended up being about the 5th highest projected QB in the Madden draft.

There could be a couple reasons for this. It could be, like you said, that one attribute is favored more in Madden over others. It's possible that THP and THA takes a big hit, but AWR doesn't take as big of a hit, so the guys who have the big arms but low awareness might get lowered way further than they should in favor of a guy with a weaker arm but high AWR. I don't know if that's for sure what it is, but it seems feasible.

My other reasoning for it is that it could be due to in-season progression on NCAA. When I rated Stafford and Sanchez at 97 or 98, whatever I put them at...at the end of the year, they were both 99 OVR but so were a couple other QB's due to in-season progression. It could be that the in-season progression messes up the order of the prospects, and if that's the case, there's really not much you can do about it because in-season progression is going to change every time you simulate a season in NCAA. What happens when a player hits 99 OVR is that their attributes can keep going up, so even if it doesn't show it, a player could conceivably be a 102 or 103 overall. For instance, I believe people were having trouble with Tim Tebow coming in to Madden as a 90+ OVR QB. This is probably because he is default rated a 98 or 99 OVR on NCAA, and he still goes through two seasons of progression while already rated that high, so even if he's 99 OVR with (for example) 85 AWR, 93 THP, 95 THA...those attributes could go to go 99, 99, and 99, but his OVR will stay at 99, although when he gets imported into Madden, he already has a head start on everyone else because he's really basically a 105 OVR in NCAA even though you don't see it.

Rookie question: So would I basically just save these on my memory stick and then upload them to my PS3 before the start of a season, and the names will appear in the upcoming draft?
